classic & brilliant, February 2, 2000
This review is from: Miss Julie (1999 Film) (Audio CD)
There aren't many directors who can also compose, let alone write music for their own films. The score for this film is a string quartet, chamber pieces which seem appropriate to dramatize the caracters in this artful film set in the 1890's. Figgis' compositions are brilliantly performed by the Medici Quartet and National Quartet, which includes a beautiful solo cello piece performed by Caroline Dale.
Mike Figgis and Milan Records have produced a serious yet beautiful soundtrack that stirs your intermost emotions. Once you have experienced this album, you can't stop listening to the haunting and lingering themes of each track. Highly recommend this CD to the preferred listener - very classic and brilliant score!

One of the most moving compositions, July 12, 2007
This review is from: Miss Julie (1999 Film) (Audio CD)
Not only one of the most beautiful scores, but one of the most profound and heartrending compositions ever created, and I listen to an enormous amount of music. As with many great things, most people have never heard of it. If one likes pieces such as Barber's Adagio for Strings, I highly recommend this. The movie, based upon Strindberg's play, also, is beautiful and touching with superb directing and acting.
