This should be the starting point for anyone interested in Eartha Kitt.

The whole album gives you the essence of Eartha, lets you hear her purrs and growls....her sighs and whispers.

Rarely do you get to hear an album that has songs in several languages, too. This is a great album, full of classic Eartha songs and treats. If you're only going to have one Eartha album, make it this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars excellent - a must have!, May 1, 1999
This review is from: Miss Kitt to You (Audio CD)
Incredible cd. I find myself listening to this over and over again. I have always enjoyed Eartha (from her days as catwoman on batman)and only in the past ten years have I truly come to know her music, and it is wonderful. If you want a nice cd to unwind with after a hard day at work, this is the one!

(TOP 100 REVIEWER)    (HALL OF FAME REVIEWER)    (VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Miss Kitt to You (Audio CD)
Miss Kitt To You showcases the remarkable talents of the great Eartha Kitt. Sadly, Eartha Kitt died from colon cancer earlier today in New York. Eartha could belt out a tune alongside the best of them; and her excellent voice made her a legendary star through the decades. The quality of music on this album is excellent and the artwork is very nicely done. The song set as a whole stands strong and Eartha Kitt fans will embrace this album if they don't have it already.

The album starts with Eartha outdoing even herself on "Je Cherche Un Homme (I Want A Man)." Her French accent is marvelous and the piano works very well in the musical arrangement. "Je Cherche Un Homme (I Want A Man)" is a very elegant number that Eartha aces effortlessly. Eartha always made it look so easy; but it was really her talent that took her to great heights. In addition, there's also "Just An Old Fashioned Girl;" Eartha Kitt handles the key changes very well and the musical arrangement is very pretty.

Listen also for the classic "St. Louis Blues;" Eartha bats this one straight out of the ballpark and the men backup singers harmonize to perfection. "St. Louis Blues" is clearly a major highlight of this album. "Smoke Gets In Your Eyes" features Eartha's gentle yet electric delivery and I really like "My Heart Belongs To Daddy." "My Heart Belongs To Daddy" is a song I first heard sung by Marilyn Monroe; but with all respect to Miss Monroe Eartha Kitt makes this tune all her own with her excellent timing. Eartha's diction bolsters her performance as well.

"C'est Si Bon" is another classic, elegant number that Eartha performs so well even Edith Piaf would be green with envy; and the men on backup do a great job as Eartha melts my heart with this number. "Beale Street Blues" is another number that really stands out and I always enjoy hearing Eartha singing this bluesy tune.

"Let's Do It" sparkles and shines as Eartha Kitt performs this with panache; and I predict that you'll also really enjoy "A Woman Wouldn't Be A Woman." "A Woman Wouldn't Be A Woman" is a spicy number that is infectiously catchy; and I love it!

The CD ends with Eartha's rendition of "Monotonous." "Monotonous" is yet another great number that gets the royal treatment from Eartha. Bravo!

Overall, Miss Kitt To You is an outstanding album by the great Eartha Kitt--unless you want the jewel case with all the artwork you should download this today! If you like Eartha Kitt and classic pop vocals you won't be disappointed.
