5.0 out of 5 stars Don't Miss...Miss Match!
I really enjoyed MISS MATCH for its breezy style, heart-pounding hotties, and LOL humor. was a fun read. However, I found it to be more geared to the middle school age group. Very young.

4.0 out of 5 stars Enchanting Review: Miss Match, April 8, 2009

MISS MATCH
WENDY TOLIVER
YA Romance
Simon Pulse

Rating: 4 Enchantments

Sasha Finnegan is just your ordinary teen girl with a knack for matchmaking. She's been setting up couples for as long as she can remember because seeing others in love makes her happy. Now sixteen, she's put her Cupid-like talents to work through an online business where she goes by the pseudonym Miss Match.

Derek Urban is the new guy in school, not to mention a total hottie. With Homecoming approaching, there's a certain cheerleader who's caught his eye. But Derek doesn't know how to get close to her, so he goes to Miss Match for help.

Sasha is more than willing to offer her services, because she's saving up to buy a car, but it makes her uncomfortable that her work is now so close to home, literally. Derek has his sights set on Sasha's more beautiful and popular older sister Maddie to be his Homecoming date. This'll be possibly the hardest match Sasha's ever made, not because Maddie isn't interested--but because Sasha might be falling for Derek herself.

Flirty, cute, and fun, MISS MATCH is an enjoyable romantic read. There is definitely a lot of predictability to the plot, but Sasha's character is unique and refreshing. Her can-do attitude makes her lovable and her insecurities over her physical appearance make her realistic and easy to relate to. It's sweet how even thought Sasha feels overshadowed in many ways by Maddie and looked over by her father, she still loves her family and will do almost anything to help them. There are a couple of aspects I feel Toliver could've expanded on, such as Sasha's friendship with Yasmin and her parents' divorce. Nevertheless, MISS MATCH is still a quick and satisfying romantic read with lots of humor that goes to show that love can happen even in the most unexpected circumstances. MISS MATCH will be enjoyed by fans of the other Simon Pulse Romantic Comedies.

Wendy Toliver has written one other fun novel for the Simon Pulse Romantic Comedies, THE SECRET LIFE OF A TEENAGE SIREN. She can be visited online at www.wendytoliver.com

These are two girls who can count on each other through thick and thin, and I believe many teen readers will see themselves and their BFF's in this friendship--or maybe aspire to be more like them.

4.0 out of 5 stars Adorable, July 18, 2009
This review is from: Miss Match (Romantic Comedies (Mass Market)) (Mass Market Paperback)
I've never read many of the Pulse RoComs- including this one, I've read three- but after reading this one, I think I need to read more. I'm not usually big on "cute" things, but after reading this, I may have to reconsider my stance on "cute" things.

This book was so adorable. I already knew what would happen in the end after reading the summary- it's a romantic comedy, those things are often predictable- but that didn't make me enjoy the book any less. I could relate so well to Sasha's concerns and insecurities, and I loved watching her get into bizarre Miss Match related situations, and then try to get out them.

I also loved some of the more uncommon traits some of the characters possess. (Well, uncommon compared to many other book characters) Sasha is concerned about her weight, but not to the point of being crazy obsessive about it, Sasha's dad's new girlfriend isn't evil, and Maddie, Sasha's sister, isn't a stereotypical mean cheerleader; she actually somewhat cares about her sister.

Miss Match is a super fun, super cute, super light, super great read. Recommended!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Sweet Read, June 26, 2009
This review is from: Miss Match (Romantic Comedies (Mass Market)) (Mass Market Paperback)
I loved this book. It was a fast and fun read with a heart. Sasha is an enjoyable character that's real. Not your typical perfect size 2 heroine but a girl with a real body and real problems. This was a sweet story with lots of charm.

This author has a great sense of humor and a set of characters who feel like they might be you own friends, except more fun! Miss Match was a warm, funny and all-around great read for the 11 to 16 crowd (and adults who enjoy a sweet, well-written story that takes them back to high school!)

What a great balance of thoughtful, heart-warming characters and funny, true-to-life high school moments! I thoroughly enjoyed the book. Even though it is certainly written for the high-school age group, it was well written enough to take me back to that time of my life and re-live all those fun (and not fun) experiences. Great story; easy to recommend to all my young friends.

After reading The Secret Life of a Teenage Siren, I couldn't wait for another book by Wendy Toliver. Fortunately she came through with Miss Match. It made me wish I knew a real matchmaker. Imagine, no more stressing over how to talk to a guy - you've got Sasha to tell you exactly what to do!

It's sweet, romantic, and fun. Everything I'm looking for in a light summer read.

I just loved this book! So cute and sweet and well-written. The characters jump off the page at you and you really feel part of the story. The teenagers are realistic and true to themselves. Wendy Toliver does a great job capturing the aura of being a teen and all that implies. This is a quick, fun read you won't want to put down until you get to the last page. Fun voice and I can't wait for Wendy's next book!

5.0 out of 5 stars Miss Match Review, May 18, 2009
This review is from: Miss Match (Romantic Comedies (Mass Market)) (Mass Market Paperback)
I love this book and author. It brings back all of the memories and feelings of when you were in high school. Boys, going out with your friends and trying to fit in.

I really liked the moral this book taught and how the girls stuck by each other in the end. It shows that sometimes people are not always what they seem (even if they are in the popular crowd).

This is a fun, fast read book. It keeps your interest and you do not realize how long you have been sitting there reading it. You will truely enjoy this book!!!
