I loved Miss Nelson Has a Field Day!!,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Miss Nelson Has a Field Day (Paperback)
I am eleven years old, and I love Miss Nelson Has a Field Day because it was funny and interesting. I liked it when Miss Viola Swamp called one boy, "Smarty". It made me laugh!! I think other kids should read this because it is a really good book. I think it is even better than the first two Miss Nelson books. All kids would love this book!!

Miss Swamp reappears at the Horace B. Smedley SchoolThe Horace B. Smedley School's football team is awful-and their big game with their major rival is on tap. Can anything be done to get the guys into shape in time for the game? Miss Nelson has a plan and, out of the blue, Miss Swamp is on the scene. But where is Miss Nelson?????? This is a truly delightful series that the whole family can enjoy. Good stories, great characters and the indomitable Miss Nelson all add up to great fun and great reading for kids.

Miss Nelson rides again,

My daughter loved this book. She was not an avid reader a couple summers ago but this one was a favorite. She likes all the Miss Nelson books but she was able to write a summary on this one and have all the information correct so she was paying attention. If it is on your summer reading list for school, go for it, it's worth it.

The Funniest Miss Nelson Book Yet,
By Darien Summers "Author of The Mischievous Har... (San Francisco, CA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Miss Nelson Has a Field Day (Hardcover)
My kid loves both this book and the series. The pictures are very funny and descriptive, and the short length of the book (32 pages) makes it a quick and fun read for young readers aged about 7-8 and also a good bedtime story for parents to read aloud.
The football team of Smedley School is awful and winless. They are so bad that the players themselves have even stopped trying, and have been fooling around during practice. These antics cause both the principle and the coach to go nuts. Since they can't do anything, the coach is unexpectedly replaced with Miss Nelson's coworker: the dreaded Miss Viola Swamp! Miss Swamp proves to be quite an effective coach and the team wins their first game against a fierce team on Thanksgiving. This book, as well as the series as a whole, stresses to children the importance of hard work and the consequences for slacking off. Darien Summers, author of The Mischievous Hare, a children's book. Flashback: In the early nineties, I came across the children's book gem of the Miss Nelson series. For some reason or another these books were my childhood favorites. Like many things in life children's literature changed.Flash-forward: My young adult life never provided me the opportunity to read children's books. That all changed when I decided to date my now fiancé, as she has a 5 year old son. Thanks to Amazon, I was able to find these books again. Now I can share a part of my childhood with my stepson. Needless to say, these books seem to be his new favorites, especially the football one. The books were in brand-new condition as expected. The books offer a great message, great illustrations, and a great story. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

Miss Nelson Has a Field Day,

I enjoyed the twist at the end of Miss Nelson Has a Field Day and overall, it's a cute book. Though, I was a little surprised the word "pussyfoot" was included in a children's picture book. While I understand the meaning, it's not a very nice-sounding word...I'm sure a better synonym could have been used. Just a heads-up!

My older preschoolers (fours and fives) get a big kick out of these books. They are very amusing mysteries that make you laugh as they make their points.
