Book Description

Miss Polly had a dolly. A beautiful daughter that she called her Baby Doll. Every day she dressed her in dresses and brushed her hair before they went outside to show off to the neighbors. On the playground one day her Baby Doll talked to a boy, and for one unforgivable second, Miss Polly let herself be distracted by a woman telling her how adorable she thought her daughter was. When Miss Polly finally turned to look for her Baby Doll again, she was gone.

Many years later Emma Frost hears about the disappearance of the little girl and learns that she is not the only one to have gone missing from Fanoe Island back in the nineties. As she digs deeper into the story, she soon finds herself entangled in a web of strange and very disturbing events.

Miss Polly had a dolly is a spine-chilling Scandinavian mystery novel from the Internationally Bestselling author Willow Rose. It is the second installment in her popular Emma Frost-series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Nail biting suspense and graphic horror November 26, 2013
By Anna
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Emma Frost, an author and single mother continues her adventures on an island in Denmark with the help of her teenage daughter and autistic son and an interesting cast of neighbors. It's a riveting horror story that is hard to put down. I loved the first book in the series, and all of the Rebekka Frank series. I would have given this one 5 stars but the graphic descriptions of the sexual abuse and torture of children put some sickening images in my head that will be difficult to erase. I like the way this author starts with different characters in different scenarios, then gradually converges them to solve the mystery. But she can be ruthless and brutal in choosing her innocent victims. It makes for great suspense but can also be a bit hard to take. You find yourself thinking "oh no, oh no". I'm just bracing myself to start book #3.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good golly Miss Polly! December 21, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is a good horror/mystery book, and was a page turner for me. In a seaside town in Denmark, young girls keep disappearing from a park. Detectives believe that they wandered away and drowned.

The story is told through the experiences of many different characters: the mother of a missing 6 year old, neighbors, family, and a killer. They are all meticulously interwoven until the climatic ending. There is plenty of horror and mystery, and good character development.

Miss Polly had a Dolly (Emma Frost #2) contains extremely graphic sexual violence toward trafficked children. It is not the kind of thing that most Americans want to read in a novel, though we know it is a world wide epidemic. However, it will be disturbing to many.

I'm giving the book 3 stars. I think the description should give warning that this book may not be for the average reader. It also needs some editing, but that didn't really distract me from the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Love Willow Rose's Books December 13, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I started with One Two. Got hooked and have read all Willow Rose's books to date, at least that I know of. Each is filled with family, mystery and adventure. I really like her books. As long as she writes, I will continue to read.

1.0 out of 5 stars Intensly disturbing January 9, 2014

I was unable to finish the book as it became more and more disturbing and too graphic for me.
The writing is good but gross because of the subject matter.

1.0 out of 5 stars Horrified... and not in a good way January 16, 2014
By Maria
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Put aside the numerous spelling and grammatical errors and you've got yourself a sick, twisted ...very rushed book. My gut wrenching disgust came from one particular scene that I will never get out of my head. It was if the author was expressing her own snuff fantasy and once told the pages were quickly read through, the storyline abruptly ended, and the book prematurely ended.
I.E. here are my characters, here's a bit about the story.... oh and here this, this is what it's all about for me (enter child sex snuff ) a few more filler pages and the story ends at 84%· Thanx for reading.

ANYONE....ANYONE who could consciously write, tell, or so much as to think to write or tell such disdain is absolutely mental in my book.

Lots of twists and turns to this book. Kept the reader interested. The last chapter the author had to explain how the characters came together. I would read the rest of the series.

3.0 out of 5 stars No five stars for "miss Polly".
OK read if you have nothing else to read. Story line fuzzy, transitions from then and now confusing. Does have a surprise ending, hence 3 stars. Read more

It was a little too weird for me. I prefer to read lighter stories, not
depressing ones. It was probably a good story for those who
like that type.
