"Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends: The Prince, The Princess and the Bee" is the newest direct-to-video feature from this wonderful, brilliantly animated series featuring Miss Spider, Holley and their buggy charges.

"The Prince, The Princess and the Bee" focuses largely on the character of Shimmer. Fans of the series know that Shimmer is a jewel beetle that was adopted by the Spider family along with Bounce and Dragon. All of these children have lost their original family, but in this one --- Shimmer has a chance to find hers --- and it may just turn out to be royal. Sunny Patch is having its own royal event, with the birthday of Princess Honey of the bees. And when the Beetle Brigade flies by and pays their respects while on their way back to Mushroom Glen, Shimmer hears the tale of the Glen's lost jewel beetle princess. She also learns that there's a big ball soon being held there and she resolves to get to Mushroom Glen to see if she can find out her true history. When travel becomes an issue, she gets some help from an old friend from the first "Miss Spider" film --- Stinky the stinkbug!

TPTP&TB is filled with wonderful lessons about bravery, respect, true courage and apprecation for one what has. None of the lessons are overbearing and the plot is quite fun to follow and enjoy.


Everything about this production is top-notch. The CGI animation is very well-formed and they don't skimp on the background artwork either --- with wonderful color textures and scenes. The film features three songs and a great audio and instrumental track to match. The characters are all generally quite likeable, or at least amusing/interesting.


The DVD includes a nice set of bonus features ---

Mission Mushroom Glen - Interactive Game --- Okay, so this one is fairly simple. It's really just a quick little maze with a couple of obstacles to avoid. Still, it does seem to change every time, adding a bit of variety.

Two Interactive Sing-Alongs --- This is a nice one. This features sing-along songs with colorful, bouncy lyrics for the songs "If I Were a Princess" and "High-Ho Away We Go" from the film.

In the Studio with Margo Timmins - The Making of "You Are Much Richer Than You Know" Song --- Viewers get to see Margo Timmins performing the song and the song being mixed/edited.

"A Sticky Situation" - Bonus Episode from the TV Series --- The bonus feature on here. A complete story from the TV show in which the kids help Spiderus out of some sticky amber and learn once again about being kind to all bugs.


English and Spanish 2.0 Audio --- A nice feature (all the songs are available in Spanish too) dampened only slightly by the fact that there's no alternate credits track and no Spanish subtitles / captions. Also, there's no subtitles / captions whatsoever for the special features, only close-captions for the film itself.

I purchased this DVD because my grandson loved the original Miss Spider movie. He loves this one as well. He is two and would watch it over and over if I let him. It makes him giggle and he ooohs and aaaaahs over this movie. I enjoy it too!

Julia, 3 years old, absolutely loves this DVD of Miss Spider and her friends. Her mother says that she never tires of watching it.

This is a delightful movie for kids. The animation is well done and there is an actual story.

My girls both loved this DVD. They have not read the Miss Spider books too much, but they really enjoyed the DVD. Good animation, comedy & songs.

We watched this the first day we got it & my girls requested to watch it the next day too, they liked it so much!

One of my girls said to point out there is "a scary spider with long legs" in this DVD, but she liked the scary spider. LOL

Love most of this series, but not this one. My kids found it way too scary. There is a fire spitting spider in it that made my 5 year old son and 3 year old daughter cry. Might be fine for older kids or kids that aren't bothered by scary things.

Amazon delivered my dvd on time and in excellent condition. Their performance only enhances their excellent reputation.
