Not their best, but still great,

Don't listen to the first guy that reviewed this. Some people don't know what true rock 'n' roll is, and can't take it when they hear the real deal. Well here it is! They've done better before (Kung Fu Ramone) and they've done better since (Jet Generation, the best album of 1999), but this is a good example of Guitar Wolf's buttkickin' melange of the Stooges, MC5, Ramones, Link Wray, New York Dolls, Dead Boys, etc. The guitars are out of clangorous and out of tune, the lyrics are screamed in an unintelligible mix of Japanese and English (I've read some translated lyric sheets--trust me, they don't even make sense in Japanse!) In other words, this rocks!

Sounds like it was recorded in a basement with one mic hanging from the ceiling...ALL RIGHT! Smoke a "j", crank the volume, you are THERE!

My poor ears,

This is my first attempt to listen to this album from start to finish with headphones. I'm currently on track 8. If the reader says "So what's the big deal?" then they haven't listened to this album. Few survive a Guitar Wolf concert without earplugs and some can't even listen to their records without them. All songs are great and horrible at the same time. The shrill feedback may make one cringe but the chugging fuzz hooks produce incredible gastric effects deep inside one's intestines. Uhhhhhhhh. My personal favs are Missile Me and Link Wray Man. Now I'm on track 11, but I got to turn this off. My ears feel like a piece of pig skin that has been gnawed on by a dog for the last 20 minutes. Time for some Bach.

Icaros,

This is truly life transforming music. Its a collection of modern day Icaros. It calls in the spirits.
Yes, the recording is intentionally a bit muddy, on purpose, and I wish it wasn't. Still, the power of the songs shines through.

I personally didn't care for it...,

I have been listening to J-rock and some J-pop for about 4 years, starting with X-Japan, then moving on to other groups like Malice Mizer and The Mad Capsule Markets; however, when I bought this CD, I thought it would be some good music -- boy was I wrong. The songs are ok, but the music sounds like it was recorded on my grandfather's 10-yr-old computer. The only thing you can hear are the drums (somewhat) and the bass. The guitar and singing can't be easily understood or even heard. :(
