Rain-washed soundscapes,

A package of various remixes from the past half-decade, this album holds together well as a singular entity - a well-sequenced, thoughtfully paced, and beautifully packaged emotional journey held together by Ulrich's lovely twenty-first century post-shoegazer aesthetic. Both the wall of sound and moments of quiet delicacy (Halo-wow!) of his albums is revealed in the remixes, and pieces by shoegazer alumni Mark Gardener, Rachel Goswell and Neil Halstead add to its authenticity. The Katharina Franck piece, Faithful Friend, even manages to recall This Mortal Coil. While I knew many of these remixes individually, brought together like this they rival Goodbye for my second favorite Ulrich Schnauss album.

Aaaaaah, this stuff is just too good! It's pervaded my mind to the point that I hear it in my head when I go to sleep, and again when I wake up. I can listen to it ten times in a row! What an incredibly chill album this is. If you're familiar with Schnauss' work, you will not be surprised to learn that it's a wall of sound - or, perhaps a wave, since it washes over you completely. Faithful Friend takes an originally somewhat slower-paced song by Katharina Franck (which is already a good song) and supercharges it with Schnauss' typical vast soundscapes, giving it a whole new flowing sort of energy. Story of the Eye is another example of an already good song given to us again in an incredible way by Ulrich's achingly beautiful style, taking the somewhat slow and lovely original and basically making it sound as though the ENTIRE UNIVERSE is performing it for you. It's on par with Blumenthal and In All the Wrong Places. Make Sense and Loose? Hell yes. Here is another song that makes me feel as though I was pure energy. It feels like he is tapping directly into my brain and flooding it with endorphins, or perhaps tetrahydracannabinol. The rest of the songs are also fantastic, if you like this style of music, but you probably figured this out already.

Subtle, Soothing and Moody (4.5 stars),

Ulrich lends his touch to a handful of tracks. The result is a collection that is moody, smooth and very easy to appreciate. Having never heard the original songs, its hard to say how much he's reworked them, however if you like Ulrich's previous work, you'll like this album. It's a bit more "main stream" than his prior albums, but his sensibilities and arrangements shine through here. A definite recommend.

Just delivered by Mr. UPS man: 'Missing Deadlines.' Electronica fave Ulrich Schnauss lends his special touch to a collection of rearranged and remixed tracks. Slightly more upbeat than his usual downtempo scene, Schnauss' predilection for a "wall of sound" works well with these tunes. Recommend.
