4.0 out of 5 stars At Last, An "Official" Brand X Boot
After about a dozen unofficial bootlegs of live Brand X, ranging in quality from bad to awful, at last the band has authorized the release of some BBC tapes from 1976. Sound quality is quite good and the material, mostly from their 2nd album, is well performed, live & without audience noise. For fans of the band this is a welcome release.

1.0 out of 5 stars Poor
"Livestock" is one killer live album . This one is a disappointment . The songs are rushed . The sound quality is not great . There's no audience ... there's a MISSING mood of excitement . Recorded for 'one off' FM radion transmission , this set doesn't bear 'CD' inspection . Certainly , the very LAST Brand X CD to purchase . Instead , start with 'Masques' and...

4.0 out of 5 stars 25 Year Old Malt, December 29, 2003
This review is from: Missing Period (Audio CD)
There are just two reasons to buy this album; they are The Ancient Mysteries and Kugelblitz. Even a hardened fan of early Brand X will probably take 20 listens to get into these tracks; but what seems like endless noodling to end all endless noodling will turn into something to love forever.

These tracks roll on and on, with an extraordinary collage of sounds where no player really leads and yet they all seem to. It has tremendous warmth and yet real edge. A total contradiction, this is real 25 year old malt. This is not for beginners.

4.0 out of 5 stars Japanese edition of the album, August 9, 2001
By
This review is from: Missing Period (Audio CD)
This is the japanese edition of the _Missing Period_ album. Unlike most other japanese releases, this one doesn't have any extra tracks (which wouldn't make sense, anyway, considering this is an album of a prehistoric period of the band).
