I loved this book. Very rarely can I be brought to tears, but by the end of this book i was flowing like a waterfall. It is very beautifully written, and you feel like you are right there going through the emotions and challenges! I would highly recommend this book to anyone!   K. Kuhn

When I first started reading this book late one evening, I thought it would be a fluffy, smaltzy, teen age story, one that I Would probably start skimming at the halfway point and be sorry I ever started it. I WAS SO WRONG!!!

Almost from the first page I knew this book was different. I was drawn into the lives of these two characters and felt their emotions as they drew together and parted and drew together again. Time would separate them but they would never be able to erease the memories and experiences they had shared all those years ago. There are lessons to be learned here, and as I laughed and cried, I was thankful that I kept on reading after that first page! This is a truly beautiful story told with wisdom, humor, and sensitivity.    Patricia J. Mills

This novel grabbed me in the 1st chapter and never let me go. I laughed, I cried and was totally engaged to the very last word. It is a beautful story that knows how to show a range of emotions and throw a punch to the gut, yet is complex enough to keep the reader involved through the ups and downs of relationships and life, joys and sadness, and takes only a few hours to read. I'll be on the lookout for other books by this author.     M. Lewis

Janet Grosshandler does a wonderful job of keeping your attention and making you feel as though you are there, where she is, in each chapter of this book, speaking in present and past tenses. The book was, in fact, very hard to put down. She also does a wonderful job of capturing much of the angst and excitement of being a teenager in love and, if I may, being very hormonal in a Catholic school environment! One of my favorite things she does is end the chapters with vows which, depending on what just occurred, change dramatically from chapter to chapter ~ so like a teenager! :-) She captures the status of her leading lady's heart and, so like a teenager, changes it to suit the occasion. Janet also ventures into the areas of cancer and adoption, emotion-packed subject matters. Adoption, especially, is not easy to discuss, or, for some, to read. I have to say that Janet handled the matter with sensitivity, caring, and honesty ~ I feel the portrayal had a very realistic view of what a child in those circumstances might feel when approached by biological parents in their later years. One sign of a good book is that you don't want it to end. And you can easily imagine yourself reading it again. I felt this way towards this one!

Unlike most of the other reviewers, I did not find Cath's ability to forgive and forget so quickly all that endearing. I was pretty annoyed with her through about half of the book but by the second half I was reading quickly to see what was going to happen and ended up liking the book more than I thought I would at the beginning. I liked the setup of the chapters alternating from Cath's high school days to her present adult life as a widow with two college age daughters. I thought the description of the Catholic school environment was right on and could absolutely see how Jame would be influenced by that environment. It turned out to be a very emotional and timely story about how we live with the choices we make and how those choices affect us forever.
