I still like this book, but I wish someone could have read it over to make sure that all instructions were included. On the scrapwork pillow project. P.28-29, we are told to sew with right sides facing, leave a gap to insert pillow form, trim seam allowances and then to insert the pillow form. After reading it a couple times I was pretty certain that at some point I ought to turn the thing right side out...maybe Betz just assumed people would jump ahead and not need to be told, yet in another similar pillow project that instruction is included. Also, on the Mixed Messenger Bag on page 108-109 there is no mention of material or measurements for the sides and bottom...just in the instructions we are instructed to sew the strap to the sides. I figured out how to make sides and a bottom, but that is a huge gap in the materials list and instructions. Has anyone else tried other projects in the book that are missing things?
Hi SR, Thanks for your comments. You are correct, you discovered 2 omissions in the book. (The first I've heard about so far!) I will post errata on my blog and Flickr discussion group to cover these asap. I can assure you that many people read over all of the instructions many times. Sometimes things still fall through the cracks, and I apologize for any frustration you have had as a result. Betz
Betz, Thanks for your reply! I wasn't searching for mistakes, just trying to calmly follow the instructions exactly! (Sometimes I read too quickly and my brain jumps ahead). I really like the projects in your book and hope I can recreate more of them soon. Hopefully I just happened to find the only two omissions in the book! Sue
