Lego Mars Mission Set #7649 MT-201 Ultra-Drill Walker

My grandma got me this set and it is AWESOME! It has never fell apart, it looks very cool, and it is at a great price! I built it in about 2 days, the first day for about 3 1/2 hours, then the second day about 30 minutes. Very fun to put together, but that's only half the fun! It also has many, many features to it that makes it a "Limited Edition" and "Hard to Find" set.

Here are it's features:

It's Ultra Drill can swivel around 360 degrees, and it can move down to mine Energy Crystals! (Though it can't move up.)

The recon ship you see below in the picture of the box can actually detach from the main walker and ALSO has a mini "hover speeder" that fits in the back of the recon ship, so you can drop it off to mine for crystals!

The Ultra Drill Walker has a cool feature for it's Ultra Drill Cannon, once fully assembled there is a black knob which you can turn to make the drill turn and charge up for a blast!

The head (top of the drill) can turn up and sideways, and the Black Cannon with the missile that you can launch with the 2 side by side turrets can move all around because of the special Bionicle originated sphere. (You know those things if you have ever seen a Bionicle it is spherish ((Don't even know if that's a word)) and it is what moves all his body parts (((legs, arms, head, etc.))))

The legs move okay, but the knees area doesn't bend, which kind of makes it hard to postition it. But it's not a big problem.

And it comes included (as usual) with a small alien craft that comes with a special Alien Commander.

I strongly recommend that you get this set, Amazon only has a limited amount of them left and it is DEFENITELY of their best sets. Great for birthdays!

Make no mistake--this is a COOL looking set! Unfortunately, it isn't that much fun to play with. The detachable portion is good. The little martian ship is just OK, but the main portion, the walking driller, just doesn't cut it. The joints don't hold together well, and it tends to fall over like a puppy learning to walk. This aspect tends to relegate it to sitting on the sidelines. A great display piece, but who buys Legos to just look at them?

My son loves it so much.
A lot of fun for whole family to build it up.
You can play with whole construction or deattach it into tree separate ships.
