I bought the Mission Anti-Chafe Stick on the preponderance of good reviews here on Amazon, so I think I should probably chip in my two cents.

First of all: Any product is better than no product. If you're looking at this review, you're probably already aware of the need for an anti-chafe product. No doubt, you'll be better off with Mission Anti-Chafe Stick than nothing at all for your 15-mile run. Kudos also to Mission for making a product that is less expensive than Body Glide.

On first use, it does go on more smoothly than Body Glide. Indeed, Body Glide seems hard as a rock compared to the Mission Anti-Chafe. So, yes -- it was much more pleasant to apply, especially to sensitive bits.

But alas, the strength is also the weakness of the Mission Anti-Chafe. It goes on smoothly, but it never really gets dry. It stays a little bit tacky. It's kind of like leaving cocoa butter on your skin. Ultimately, this diminishes its efficacy. Plus, after your exercise, you end up being a little sticky some places you might not want to be sticky.

I wanted to like it, given its price and comfort of use. But Body Glide is the clear choice for me.

My husband, with whom I share this account, wrote the following review: I chose this product in haste, mostly because the Body Glide wasn't available for a decent price for Prime shipping (and i needed it quick). I was very surprised at how well it worked. Don't know about the 5 hour thing, but I used it for the 1/2 marathon I ran Saturday (finished in just under two hours) and there was absolutely no chafing. Used on both my chest and upper legs (my two problem areas) and neither had any chafing whatsoever. I should also mention that I sweat a great deal, so this product was probably tested to its limits. I would highly recommend this product to anyone needing protection from exercise chafing. I would only say test it on longer runs before relying on it in a race significantly longer than two hours.

I have used Body Glide for several years and I've officially switched to this anti-chafe stick instead! I wear anti-chafing gel in the summers because my (very muscular) thighs rub together. Living in New York City, this is a huge and potentially very painful problem for me. With Body Glide, I had to reapply every couple of hours (more if it was very hot) and I would be reluctant to walk more than a half a mile. With this new stuff, I can walk pretty much any distance and I only have to reapply about once every 5 hours, like it says. This stuff doesn't come off as you sweat as easily as Body Glide does, though the substance itself is lighter and less greasy somehow! I am now recommending this to all of my friends instead of Body Glide. Nobody should have to suffer from inner thigh chafing!

It also works on preventing and soothing blisters.

First things first, as an anti-chafing product I've never found anything that works better than this. It hands down is just wonderful and won't wear off. The downside of this durability is that it literally won't wash out. I'd taken to using this as a chamois cream (and it worked great!)and am looking at possibly having to throw my shorts away because I can't get this to wash out of the chamois.
If I can find a solution to this I'll be the happiest person in the world because this stuff just works wonderfully, but if not I'll have to totally stop using it for chamois cream. I will however keep using it for other anti-chafing uses because I like it so much!

Its a great product that does what it says. On a 5.5 hour bike ride from Sacramento to San Francisco this stuff held up. I applied it liberally to both my clean dry skin and to the chamois. Skin and Chamois did not absorb it which seems to be the most logical explanation to my comfort after such a long time in the saddle.

I chose this brand after reviewing the other products out there, and seeing that it was a better value per ounce than the other main brand I saw.

It completely eliminated the issue I had been having with the strap of my bathing suit chafing my shoulder as I did my laps. It went on easily, wasn't gooey or unpleasant to use. It made the second part of my summer a lot less painful than the first!

I have used Body Glide before and this seems very similar, although this one may last a little longer and be slightly less greasy. As far as the effectiveness for "5 hours" -- I did apply it 2 hours before a race in which I ran for more than 4 hours in 100+ degree heat. During and after the race, I did not have ANY problems with chafing. So, there's that. I think it has earned a place in my "race bag."

I agree with some of the other comments here- Bodyglide comes at a better price point and works slightly better. The only upside is that Mission athletecare is easier to shower off, but that may be why it doesn't seem to last as long, or work as well.
