5.0 out of 5 stars Great Buy, Great Product

3.0 out of 5 stars Good buy if you are up for a little bit of fixing
For the money in a folding bookcase, it is a good buy provided you are ready to do a little work on the bookcase.

I bought two of these. To my surprise, even though it was Christmas season and delivery demand must have been significant, they came in just a few days. The boxes were beat up so I was worried that they might be damaged. They were not damaged...

I've bought a number of bookcases from major retailers, and I get annoyed having to put them together. I especially hate the cheap cardboard backings, which inevitably fall off, that are often on these types of bookcases.

Fortunately, this bookcase avoids those two problems. The fold-out styles means that there is NO ASSEMBLY required. When I brought it home, I simply unpacked it and folded it out. It literally took two minutes to have the entire bookcase set up and ready to go. I was worried that a fold-out bookcase might be unsteady, which hasn't been the case at all. I was also concerned that the bookcase might look cheap, but it's really rather attractive.

The Mission style blends easily in most decors, although I think it probably looks best in a kitchen. I have mine in my kitchen to hold cookbooks. The folding style also means that it will be easy to move them to another room if you'd like. I plan on buying more of these convenient bookcases. A most highly recommended product!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars I really like the 4 tier version compared to the 3 tier., October 31, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Mission Folding Bookcase - Natural (Kitchen)
I loved this tall 4 tier shelf unit. It comes pre-assembled. You just pull it out of the box, unfold the shelves and place it where you want. I performed some simple surgury on mine to make it fit my needs better. I removed the backside slats on the top shelf and placed my 15" TV/VCR combo unit on it. It sits on a 45 degree angle in the corner so the back of the TV does not bump the wall. It holds a playstation and controllers very well. I have a small Epson Stylus printer on shelf and it fits nearly perfectly (the paper tends to stick just above the upper shelf). I put my brother laser printer on the bottom shelf, with moderate success. In general, it will hold large books easily but paperbacks will probably look a bit out of place. I will probably buy another one or two soon...

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Value In A Book Shelf, February 18, 2005

This is one great book shelf. I purchased it on Amazon about one and a half years ago. It is easy to assemble as it simply unfolds - it is so well designed. It has four sturdy & durable shelves with a back bar for each shelf. It is made of finished natural wood with a clear polish. It is not too wide so it can fit in kitchens, college dorms and other smaller places.

As soon as the book shelf arrived at my door in about one week I put it together in 5 minutes. I just loved it and wanted to get more. But it was sold out. I liked it so much that I looked all over the web to find another one. However, there was not one to be found anywhere. Now I just noticed that the same item which I liked so much is available again on Amazon at the same affordable price of $49.99. Be sure to get one before they sell out again. I guarantee you that they will sell out quickly.

4.0 out of 5 stars Very good value for the money, July 5, 2003
This review is from: Mission Folding Bookcase - Natural (Kitchen)
As stated in my review title, I think this folding bookcase is a very good value. It can store a lot of books in a relatively compact space. It is solid wood, and has a slight wedge design (larger at base, smaller at top), so it is very stable. This wood (I own the related file cart as well), with its natural finish, mixes very nicely with all the chrome I have in the room with it. Because of its finish and its airy design, it fits into my very modern room, even though the bookcase is advertised as "mission style." I am very happy with the bookcase.

One word of "warning," however. This bookcase's shelves are fixed, not adjustable. The shelves are spaced to fit items up to 8-1/2" by 11". If you have a lot of oversize books (that you don't want to shelve horizontally), or if you need a bookcase with adjustable shelves for some other reason, this is not the bookcase for you.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great shelf - SIMPLE to put together - under 15 minutes, March 17, 2006
This review is from: Mission Folding Bookcase - Natural (Kitchen)
My husband and I purchased this shelf as a place to put my rather large collection of cookbooks. We received the shelf within days of placing our order. Upon opening, it took me maybe 10-15 minutes to take it from completely packaged to set up. We liked it so much after a month, we purchased a second one. We had the same positive experience with the second one. The shelf is attractive as well as sturdy and affordable !!

I have bought 2 of these bookcases. They are very well made, set up in 2 minutes. Forget the pressed wood bookcases -- I have. They sag and fall apart. Not these bookcases. They are solid wood, the real thing, and best of all, there is no assembly required, just unfold where you want it, and start filling it up! Also, very easy to move in the house especially through narrow places because it can be folded up again. Excellent buy for the price. Not made in China, I think it is made in Vietnam.

5.0 out of 5 stars Worth Every Penny, July 30, 2005

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Mission Folding Bookcase - Natural (Kitchen)
I have a large collection of books, many of them textbooks so of larger size and heavier. I also move every few years due to my career, so I always keep my eyes open for bookcases which are portable yet stable. I had used those plastic bookcases which you have to put together. While they were OK, they are not terribly stable, and it is easy to lose a part in a move. When I saw this folding bookcase I thought I would give it a try. It is wonderful. It could not be easier to "assemble," since all you do is unfold the two sides and allow the selves to fall into place. No parts to lose. It is also very sturdy in build; solid wood, attractive finish. I have filled it up with a lot of my heavy, large textbooks and the selves look as straight as ever. The size also allows you to put the bookcase in a lot of places. I plan to buy at least one more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Glad I purchased this bookcase, November 24, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Mission Folding Bookcase - Natural (Kitchen)
My husband and I purchased this bookcase for our daughter who is almost 2. All of her books fit on it nicely and it's very sturdy. We were concerned that we'd have to anchor it to the wall to avoid tipping. However, the design of the case makes it very secure. It's wider at the bottom than the top, therefore, the chances of it tipping are slim to none. I even tried to tug on it rather hard from the top shelf and it barely budged. I was concerned after reading the review from the person who said they were not satisfied, but decided to go and check it out on our own. I'm glad that we did, we found that it was a great buy and NO ASSEMBLY REQUIRED. So we're not quite sure what he's talking about with glue on the dowels and slats not being long enough. We didn't have to assemble anything, but place the shelves on the brackets. We highly recommend this product.

5.0 out of 5 stars My favorite shelves., August 7, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Mission Folding Bookcase - Natural (Kitchen)
I now have all three of the Furio natual folding shelves. I first fell in love with the 3 shelf version I bought a little over a year ago. It was so nice to have when I had to move. After the move, I picked up the small shelf designed to hold CDs, videos, and DVDs. The final purchase was this 4 shelf bookcase. It's very easy to set up and move. And I love that it's made of actual wood, instead of particle board. I (a female) can carry this up the stairs without any help. Unlike my old particle board bookshelf, this has no back panel to block power outlets. And it isn't as tall as my other bookshelf, so I can place artwork above it.

I truely love this bookcase, and all the other folding shelves make by Furio.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great bookshelf!, August 12, 2005

I absolutely love this bookshelf! I bought it last fall when I moved into my dormroom at college and I don't know what I would have done without it! This is a very sturdy set of shelves, even on carpet, and you don't even have to put it together because each shelf just snaps down into place. I used it for my 2 gallon fishtank, printer, school books, and more. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for something of quality with a low price.
