'MEMORY"
To stop a hostile enemy leader, Briggs and his IMF plant Joseph Baresh, a man with a photographic mind, in an escapeproof prison. But when Joseph sees and memorizes a secret list of enemy agents, Briggs must think of a quick and foolproof way to bust his man out of jail.
In this unusual episode we see the training of a new IMF recruit, witness Briggs's preparations as he conceives a new plan during the mission. Writer Robert Lewin also injects some grim humor.
Albert Paulsen, superb as "Joseph Baresh," co-starred with Peter Graves, James Gregory, and Daniel J. Travanti in Bruce Geller's unsold TV pilot CALL TO DANGER (filmed just before Graves became "Jim Phelps").
"THE GLASS CAGE"
Te Mission: to free a resistance leader from a top-security ell in an escapeproof prison. IMF leader Jim Phelps's strategy: to trick the enemy into releasing their prisoner into custody. Larry Linville ('Captain Gulka") also appears in three later MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE episodes, "Submarine" (1969), The Innocent," and "Robot" (both in 1970), all produced before he achieved fame as "Major Frank Burns" in M*A*S*H (1972-1977).
