Great Book on Reaching Postmoderns,
This review is from: Mission to Oz (Paperback)
Culture has shifted, and the predominant worldview has left many Christians scratching their head wondering how to respond. In Mission to Oz, Mark Tabb explains the changes in our culture brought about by the postmodern worldview and shows Christians how to minister in the new world they find themselves in. He doesn't pass judgment on the worldview or its proponents. Instead, he teaches us to think like a missionary and proclaim the timeless truths of the scripture in our changing culture. I am recommending this book to every Christian who wants to understand the times and usher in the Future Church.

Mark Tabb the Ozian expert,
By
This review is from: Mission to Oz (Paperback)
I was first caught by the cover and title. A great concept. Then when I opened the book I was blown away. Mark Tabb has nailed it down. Many Christians don't know how to talk to the Natives of Oz in their language and so they can't lead the "Ozians" to the Great Physician of their soul. Mark Tabb clearly explains the postmodern mindset and gives practical advice on how to connect. The only shortcomming I can note is that some readers may think this book is only for those who communicate with teens or college-aged people. Not true. The residents of Oz cover multiple generations. If you are interested in making a difference in Oz then I highly recommend reading "Mission to Oz". Comming in at just a bit short of 150 pages, it's not a big time commitment.

Great Overview of Postmodernism and Ministry,
By John M Yeats (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mission to Oz (Paperback)
Extremely relevant work that addresses the issues of postmodernism in a format that anyone can access. Perfect for teachers, pastors or Church workers (parents too!) seeking to bridge the gap between themselves and the younger X and Y generations. Helps every reader obtain a basic understanding of postmodern thought and how it has impacted American culture. Tabb does an excellent job aiding readers to move beyond negative reaction towards postmodernism. He gives hope to anyone frustrated with the seemingly constant change in postmodern culture and encourages those involved in teaching or evangelism. Anyone involved in American life directly encounters postmodernism daily. Now you can know how to survive. Tabb's work is an excellent starting point for effectively reaching today's world. |
