About the Author

Virginia native and Florida resident Catherine Aragon caught the travel bug at a young age, thanks to her generous parents. (Extra emphasis on generous, because we all realize, especially with children of our own, how expensive family travel can be!) Her travels have criss-crossed the world s great capitals: Paris, Rome, Madrid, Tokyo, and Franklin County, Virginia. (The latter, one of the world s lesser-known destinations and Catherine s childhood home, is acclaimed as moonshine capital of the world. ) Nowadays she reports for duty stateside and overseas with her military husband.

Catherine s favorite quote comes from author S. Rao: There's no destination. The journey is all that there is, and it can be very, very joyful. She believes these words ring true for travel and the joy of the journey - unless that journey happens to be a long plane ride with an energetic toddler (2012, Atlanta to Singapore, 24+ hours, middle seats)!

This book helped make our trip to Paris with 6th graders fun and fulfilling. Each day we were on a mission! We weren't sure how our kids would take to going to all the museums and landmarks we wanted to see, but this book had us visiting many sites more than once. They were so excited to find each item in the book, check it off, answer questions, and count up the points. The goal in the book was to get 100 points--we got 135!

This book was flat out fantastic. I wish there was one for every European city. We took a family trip with two adults and one seven year old. I was worried that he would be bored looking at the museums and sights the adults wanted to see. This book made a huge, huge difference. He loved being a secret agent and earning points. The only downside is that he wanted to race through things getting points as fast as he could and we had to slow him down. While an APP version might have been even better in some ways (some of the things we were supposed to find were being restored or not visible anymore), the size and weight of the paperback made it very easy to take with us. I highly recommend this book if you're taking kids abroad.

MISSION PARIS is a real gem. As a retired French professor, I hardly expected to download a scavenger hunt adventure for children, while my husband and I plan our summer return trip to Paris. But for the price of a few metro tickets, you can find in MISSION PARIS the best of this beautiful city, an excellent introduction to its history and culture, and most of all its unique joie de vivre. I would recommend MISSION PARIS for any traveler to France. Though this book appeals to children especially, it will delight the young-at-heart as well. Bon Voyage à Paris!

I decided to purchase this book because I will be taking my niece and nephew on a trip to France this summer. I want them to be able to have some independence and to appreciate Paris and its offerings. This book is ideal for these purposes. It will get them involved in what we are seeing/doing and teach them as well. Now I have to order another so they will each have a book!!

Excellent choice -- wish there was a book for every major city!

- this is the sort of thing I would've liked to have had when I was a kid sightseeing. I think it will definitely keep kids interested as they navigate around Paris. I ended up reading through all the book myself - it actually has quite a bit of info that my Paris guidebooks didn't (the kind of info kids would really like) - in addition to some interesting spy history. Very happy with this purchase.

I love these books! My kids are 12, 14 and 16 so I was afraid they might think they were "baby" books but they are enjoying them. I just wish there were books for London and Berlin.

I highly recommend this book for any parent looking for a fun way to engage their youngster in discovering the wonders of Paris. Clever and well-written, this book became our guide to a recent stay in Paris. Book in hand, our 8-year-old set the pace, diligently making her way through the scavenger hunt, sweeping us grown-ups into the excitement of it all. The book rendered the city and its many monuments and attractions accessible and understandable to our daughter; and, the book turned out to be equally fun for the adults, giving us a new "take" on Paris. I highly recommend it. The Lonely Planet "Not for Parents Paris," which our daughter also devoured, served as a great companion. This book would be appealing for a wide range of ages.
