First of all, anyone considering a purchase of this product should know that it is much more labor intensive to put together than the description implies. You will need a drill, clamps, sanding materials and glue (and possibly extra, longer screws). But the complications do not stop there. For the first part of the assembly the screws were too short and 1/4 inch longer screws had to be purchased. For the second part the screws that appeared to be of sufficient length were not holing. Why? They were defective; stripped down flat on one side for the last three threads of the screw. Another trip to the hardware store. In addition to all of that there were labels stuck to all of the pieces that were not easily removed as they had to be vigorously sanded to get rid of the extra sticky glue that held them on.
I would have given this product only one star but for the fact that once the item was finally assembled (after much sweat equity) it is an impressive piece of furniture. It is beautiful, sturdy, solid red oak that will, no doubt, stand the test of time. Even after all of the trouble I wanted to purchase the matching end table but my other half informed me that I would be assembling it with my "next husband". In conclusion....."buyer beware"!

Very Pale,

The table is nice, BUT beware; if you're looking for something that truly looks like oak (even light oak), be prepared to refinish this table to get some color. It's very pale, and appears to be unfinished. I had gotten three other smaller tables (same style) elsewhere, and all I had to do was put them together. While I like the style, if I had it to do over again, I'd pay a bit more and get something I didn't have to work so hard on to get it to fit in with my other furniture. Because it was so heavy, shipping costs to return it were prohibitive.
