4.0 out of 5 stars Funny author name; powerful book, December 8, 2007
This review is from: Missions and Money: Affluence as a Missionary Problem...Revisited (American Society of Missiology) (Paperback)
This challenging book confronts evangelicals' stewardship of resources, and to settle for nothing less than a "righteous rich" behavior; representing a credible Gospel witness. Bonk says that Missions and Money "is not about economic theory, but about the challenge of living Christianly in contexts of dire economic deprivation and destitution" (xxiv, emphasis original).

The Gospel translates as a message presented by Christians through words and deeds; God's loving Kingdom rule has entered earth; this truth must follow with Christian practices that proclaim God's just rule.

The material wealth of many Christians in America is sometimes only exceeded by a material greed. The Gospel has a difficult, but livable answer. God says that camels can go through eyes of needles... but only with His power.

Read this book to penetrate your life with a challenge to live out a "more excellent way" (cf. overture to 1 Corinthians 13).
