Thank God for Pink - Who Needs Another Britney Spears Anyway,
By A Customer
This review is from: Missundaztood (Audio CD)
Okay, I admit it...I'm thirty-something, and I REALLY like Pink's music. I mean, let's face it, her voice is wonderful! I loved most of the songs on "Can't Take Me Home", and I even love more of the songs on "Missundaztood". My favorites on this cd are "Don't Let Me Get Me", "Just Like A Pill", "18 Wheeler", "Misery", "Dear Diary", "Lonely Girl", "Numb", and "My Vietnam"...ohhh forgedda 'bout it, ALL the songs on this cd are good! Of course, I was awakened by the poignant lyrics in the song "Family Portrait" which I have to say, I admire Pink for singing and putting on this cd. It's sad, brutally honest, and every parent in this world should listen to these lyrics as if they were sung by their own child. But thankfully, that's the only song on here that makes me want to cry inside. The rest are bluesy, jazzy, rock/pop sensations that just make you want to listen to them over, and over, and over, and over. Get the point?! Go ahead, buy this cd, you will not be sorry you added it to your collecion. And to Pink, if you ever read this - Keep up the good work girl! (and take care of that voice of yours, it's Golden!)

Well I'm so glad I bought this and really can't skip a single song. I had heard "GET THIS PARTY STARTED" and fell in love. Pink's new album is even better than her first one last year. I recommend this to anybody looking for some good tunes full of passionate lyrics.1. M!SSUNDAZTOOD - I love this song, very catchy and upbeat. Love the end skit. 4 stars out of 5 2. DON'T LET ME GET ME - Very rockish, with a electric guitar and very strong vocals that stand out. 4 stars out of 5 3. JUST LIKE A PILL - OMG I love this song!!! Nice opening. 5 stars out of 5 4. GET THIS PARTY STARTED - Sooooo catchy! Anybody who can't get pumped up with this must be dead. I'm lovin the electronica and hip-hop mix, kinda Madonna ish. 5 out of 5 5. RESPECT (FEAT. SCRATCH) - Wow Pink pulls off another great dance song, with a awesome beat and incredible messege! It samples the "R-e-s-p-e-c-t" chorus of Aretha Franklin's 60's hit. 4 out of 5 6. 18 WHEELER - Your upbeat rock-pop. Love the guitar. 4 out of 5 7. FAMILY PORTRAIT - This is a niiice song. It has a rap feel, but not too much. Sad, sad, lyrics that make you think about divorce & broken homes. 5 out of 5 8. MISERY (FEAT. STEVEN TYLER) - They sound soooo good together!!!! I couldn't believe, its' like they should have recorded from the start! 5 out of 5 9. DEAR DIARY - Kind of reminds me of Fiona Apple's 1997 hit "Criminal." Love the hypnotic beat. 5 out of 5 10. EVENTUALLY - A slow paced ballad with strings. Its about revenge on people who try to use Pink and turn their back on her. 4 out of 5 11. LONELY GIRL - Nice rock song. The most classical rock song, as it has a Beatles 60's era sound to it. 4 out of 5 12. NUMB - Hard femme rock at its best. Love it. 5 out of 5 13. GONE TO CALIFORNIA - A very sad, slow ballad about how bad of a shape Philadelphia is in. Nice melody. 5 out of 5 14. MY VIETNAM - A great rock tune about Pink's confusing life and wars. 5 out of 5

I've liked Pink since I first saw her in that terrific video with the motorcycle, and I think she's quite a talent. Her performances always capture my attention, she has a growing gift for songwriting, a unique singing style, and I just love that little wobble in her voice. This CD has its ups and downs...I can live without the first 3 tracks, but it also has some exceptional ones. The gems on this CD to my ears are "Family Portrait" (writen by Pink and Scott Storch), which is a really moving piece that I don't think could be sung better by anybody, I like "Eventually" (written by Pink and Linda Perry) more with each hearing (nice lyrics), and "Gone to California" (Pink and Perry again) is great. Her phrasing on this song is superb, and there's the added bonus of a jazzy A-1 sax solo by Jimmy Z, and David Siegel on organ adds a lot to it too. These three songs are some of the slower ones on this CD, and show a lot of artistry. Out of the current crop of young singers, I wouldn't be surprised if Pink is the one we'll be listening to 10 years from now.
