A farm boy from Nebraska, Ford Ashton arrives in San Francisco with singled minded intent: do whatever it takes to get his uncle out of jail. Ford puts his integrity on the line hoping to free Grant, the only father he has ever known. Grant is being held without bail, charged with the murder of his own father, Spencer Ashton, Ford's grandfather.

Spencer Ashton had a long list of enemies, but the statement of his "Executive Assistant" Kerry Roarke has landed Grant in jail. Hours before his death she overheard Grant threaten Spencer. Based primarily on her word, the police are confident the right man is behind bars.

Ford conducts his own investigation. Certain his grandfather's mistress knows more than she is telling, he lies to Kerry about being an Ashton and sets out to seduce her. Unprepared for the flare of attraction, he discovers she is not the experienced seductress he expected. Even with Grant's freedom at stake, he buttons his pants and confesses the truth.

Ford's lies devastate Kerry. Sexually awakened for the first time since being attacked ten years ago, she walks away from the budding relationship. She confides to her beloved mentor expecting sympathy, but Millie praises Ford's family loyalty and respects the decisions he's made, especially the one that left Kerry hot and bothered and a long way from satisfied.

Kerry decides to help Ford, convinced a broken heart is better than a dead one. Hoping the memories of their intimacies will chase away her fears, she embraces her newfound sexuality by requesting to spend the week with Ford in his hotel?
