5.0 out of 5 stars Love Billett
These observations by Billett are so simple, but I've never seen all of these thoughts put down on paper and so eloquent at that. Love the pictures too! Milk was shooting out of my nose I laughed so hard. It's a coffee table must.

3.0 out of 5 stars Mildly Amusing
Fashion arbiter Daniel Billett takes the bull by the horns, so to speak, and condemns male fashion flaws right, left, and center. Very often he's correct. Who the hell is so stupid that they wear socks with sandals? Doesn't that actually defeat the entire point of sandals? On the other hand, Billett doesn't go far enough. Aren't men in sandals intrinsically gauche...

3.0 out of 5 stars Mildly Amusing, May 20, 2011
This review is from: Mistakes Men Make (Hardcover)
Fashion arbiter Daniel Billett takes the bull by the horns, so to speak, and condemns male fashion flaws right, left, and center. Very often he's correct. Who the hell is so stupid that they wear socks with sandals? Doesn't that actually defeat the entire point of sandals? On the other hand, Billett doesn't go far enough. Aren't men in sandals intrinsically gauche any way?

This small book breaks into seven sections: Introduction, Clothing, Accessories, Hair, Body, Body Language, and Conclusion. Billett's narrative is often funny in a slightly vulgar sort of way, but he very often nails the problem. "Socks should never be a feature of your outfit." God knows that's true. "Cowboy books look great. On cowboys." I couldn't have said it better myself. "Never wear a hat indoors." And yes, this includes caps, and that does mean you.

On the other hand, Billett occasionally misses the mark. Granted, sideburns are vaguely hilarious, and mullet cuts indicate that you were born and raised in a cheap trailer park, but the mustache and goatee combo are still good. As for men in ponytails, it rather depends on the person and how it looks. But whatever the case, the book is intended more for fun than actual advice, and the photos (which take up most of the pages) are rather fun. But a word of advice: be careful who you give this book to. They could easily get huffy about it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Hilarious and right on point!, May 15, 2011
This review is from: Mistakes Men Make (Hardcover)
Are you a caring wife who shivers at the thought of your husband making his own suitcase when you go on vacation? Do you often find yourself lowering your head in shame when you're seen together in public? Then get this guide NOW and succumb to social humiliation no more!!! You know darn well he will never listen to you. So, be smart and let Daniel Billet fight your fashion battles from now on!

Here is one of those books that should be part of the school curriculum. In short, it's a survival guide for men who struggle in the ancient art of dressing up like self-respecting humans.

The ladies will definitely find this guide worthy of assimilation as their husbands will be much more receptive to the sound advice given by a fellow brother as opposed to that given by his nemesis (a.k.a. wife).

Full of life-saving advice and spot-on photographs to get the point clear even to the most thick headed of all apes, this masterpiece is guaranteed to make you laugh about those things that would normally make you cry. Even if you are a man and happen to be featured on one (or God forbid, more) of its pages, please do yourself a favor and give this guide a try. It's got plenty of pictures and you'll be done with it in just a couple of toilet sittings!

5.0 out of 5 stars A mistake not to buy it!, January 13, 2008
This review is from: Mistakes Men Make (Hardcover)
This book is a really great idea for a humorous gift, ideal for that embarrassing man in your life. I got it for my father because all those years of pleading with him to change his fashion sense or at least his hair stye now and then have fallen on deaf ears.

Billet docements, in photographic form, lots of hillarious fashion calamities and adds his own witty narrative that adds an extra bite to the mocking of all you cluless men out there!

A really humorous book that I highly recommend!
