About the Artist
The Misteriosos first show was as finalists in The 2004 Little Steven Contest in Boston, and they havent looked back since. Founding members JellyRoll and Tula Storm moved along to Philadelphia, where they were joined by Skeeter on drums. The trio plays psych-rock, with other strange influences, but their love of things lo-fi and an obsession with fuzz and tremolo remain consistent. An obvious passion for their sound comes through in their songs, which can verge from guitar-fuzzed, organ swirled psych-rock to trance-inducing, narcotic numbers. The Misteriosos have performed with notable bands such as The Blue Van, Les Breastfeeders, Soft Explosions, Le Nombre, and The Forty-Fives. They have found a large following playing New York City regularly. The Misteriosos music is played on several well-known college, national, and international stations and all this before their first album came out! Futuro 88.9 in Chile will be featuring The Misteriosos new album in an hour-long show in November 2005, and the band has been invited to perform live at WFMU. Songs from the new album are already being played on Brazilian radio. The Misteriosos finished a 5-song EP West of Nowhere in 2004 and continue to play regularly around the east coast. Their single West of Nowhere is included on Get Outta Philly, a compilation of the best Philadelphia bands, put out by Tick Tick Tick Records. Their debut full-length CD The Misteriosos was released in October 2005. They will be touring the midwest this winter, and have been invited to join Thee Exciters (from London) on their US tour in spring 2006.
