4.0 out of 5 stars fine holday Misty Harbor family romance, October 7, 2007
This review is from: Mistletoe Bay (Paperback)
With her father ailing, Cooper "Coop" Armstrong returns from California to Misty Harbor, Maine to help care for him; he accepts a job with UPS. However, the biggest change in his lifestyle is meeting single mother of three, widow Jenni Wright, at a time when he is down on all women thanks to his cheating ex back on the West Coast.

Jenni, with the help of her mother-in-law Dorothy and her teenage sister-n-law Felicity raises her three sons and runs a business from their home. However, the Wright dilapidated home is falling part leading to Coop making repairs. As he and Jenni fall in love, he never planned on instant kids, let alone three of them, but he also finds he cares about them, their aunt and their grandmother too.

Fans of the Misty Harbor family romances (see MISTY HARBOR WEDDING and HARBOR NIGHTS) will enjoy the latest holiday tale. Coop is a delight as he does not want to fall in love with anyone let alone a single mother with three offspring. However, love magic is in the in MISTLETOE BAY so as Coop learns first hand what chaos theory truly is, readers obtain an enjoyable contemporary romance.

I loved this book!!! It was a perfect addition to the Misty Harbour Series. I thought Cooper and Jenni have wonderful chemistry, and Jenni's three boys are a riot. I hope Mrs. Evanick keeps the series going. Im really looking foward to her next book.

3.0 out of 5 stars The kids hijack the story in this Christmas romance..., January 31, 2011

Cooper Armstrong just moved back to Misty Harbor, Maine after many years away. He was once the small town's golden boy - the football hero destined for great things. But things didn't quite work out that way and now he's back and working as a UPS man. "Coop" finds himself making frequent deliveries to a ramshackle house on Mistletoe Bay, and is drawn to the house's attractive owner. But Jenni Wright is a package deal, complete with three young sons that might charitably be called...rambunctious. So does a sane man take on a ready-made family? Love can make you do some crazy things....

This is a Holiday romance, taking place between Halloween and Christmas. It's a cute story, but between the kids, Jenni's mother-in-law, her teen-age sister-in-law and all the drama that accompanies them there's little time for romance - kind of like real-life! At the midpoint of the book we've had zero romance and page after page detailing the kids' various escapades. Don't get me wrong, the writing was good and actually quite funny, but just lacking sizzle between Coop and Jenni. The author does a good job of capturing the utter chaos of a house full of young kids - if you've ever been there, you'll find yourself commiserating with poor, harried Jen.

Eventually the romance does heat up and there's even a little bonus romance for Jenni's mother-in-law, Dorothy. There's kind of a build up to a "big secret" about Coop, but prepare to be under whelmed. If you're looking for a heartwarming Christmas story centered around family life then this will probably appeal to you. If you don't care for children in your romance reading...don't let the pretty cover seduce you. This one is all about the kiddies.

This is part of the Misty Harbor series ( I believe it's book #7 ), but you can read it without having read any of the others.

No strong language and some mild sexual content - PG range.

4.0 out of 5 stars WOW, I laughed til I cried!, October 31, 2008
By
This review is from: Mistletoe Bay (Paperback)
I picked this book up off a "freebie" rack at the local library because of the words "magical Christmas." I am a big "magical" anything fan! Coop was the local UPS man who met the young children before the widowed mom first by having to dodge the "ghost and alien" (just before Halloween) on their driveway. You instantly begin getting introduced to Tucker the four year old, who is almost the star of the story!

Coop is constantly in the right place at the right time to rescue Jenni (the widow) from her son's antics. Jenni is running a successful home business with the help of her late husband's mom and sister-in-law, a very tempermental 17 year old.

Not only does Jenni find romance, but so does her pre-menopausal mother-in-law.

The story is well written and very humorous. She will have you laughing at points so hard you will have tears in your eyes. Especially if you have children!! This was my first book by her and I hope she captures the humor in all her books. I look forward to reading more of her series to find out. If you want a truly good laugh, this is the book. There are places where life is normal, but I am a widow myself. I met the perfect man when I had three kids, two very small. She captured that feeling and the emotions a widow goes through very well!

1.0 out of 5 stars Serious disappointment, January 14, 2008
This review is from: Mistletoe Bay (Paperback)
I've loved reading this series, since the very first book. I love how the stories intertwine with characters from the other books, and each story has been a nice read. This one is the exception. It is so dull. The characters are not compelling, there's no chemistry between the characters, and it just seems forced. I'm still trying to make my way through this book, skipping sections along the way because it's just so darn dull. What a disappointment.
