MISTLETOE IN MAINE
Believe in magic...

Single mom Carol Baker has the goal of providing an old-fashioned, white Christmas for her two kids. She's been divorced and the kids' dad, sadly, hasn't been the most attentive father. So, Carol takes her crew to New England, hoping for a happy holiday and a chance to make her small nuclear family feel whole. Little does she know that a series of mishaps and adventures will land her in the handsome innkeeper's arms, and cause her to rethink the meaning of faith.

With his only child headed to college, innkeeper Paul Love plans to sell his establishment and take an early retirement in Montreal, where he can live out the solitary life of a bachelor. Though his son and mom have other plans, including a surprise visit from Paul's old high school sweetheart, Beth. But it's hard to focus on Beth, when an offbeat brunette from Virginia captures his imagination. After so much time alone, can Paul open himself up to a little Christmas magic? What's more, can he convince Carol to believe, as well?

A sweet, traditional PG-rated romantic comedy.
Standard novella-length, approximately 25,000 words.

5.0 out of 5 stars Enjoyed it. November 24, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This was a cute, light, easy reading romance story. A divorced mother of 2 goes to Maine for Christmas. They have had a bit of a hard time due to an ass for an ex-husband & Dad. Paul, the host of the Bed & Breakfast, single father of one is about to turn their lives around. Good story. Very enjoyable.

3.0 out of 5 stars LOVED THE SETTING AND THE CHRISTMAS THEME December 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I give this one a 3.75 stars. I must admit I am a bit predigested as I am a transplanted Maineiac who loves the stories with the setting of my home State.

I love the wild country in the North and Moose Head Lake is a particularly beautiful area of the State and yes Moose to exist. Perhaps not magical ones but certainly hugh ones.

I love the sweetness of this story and while it might have been predictable that in no way detracted from the theme and the Christmas story. I love the Love Inn, run by Paul Love and his son.

I highly recommend it for a great short, sweet Christmas read.

4.0 out of 5 stars AND THEY ALL LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTERl March 3, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Mistletoe in Maine is well written, but does not pretend to be great literature. It is a feel good story with a sprinkling of comic situration, like the heroine's first experience on skis, the teenagers who hide in dad.s cherished car to share some 'quality time'

Ginny Baird has learned to apply the 'show don't tell' rule effectively.

When Cinderella's (sorry Carol Bakers's) ex husband gives his children totally inappropriate, and cheap, Christmas gifts we get a picture immediately of why her marriage broke up.

She decides to give her children a real Christmas at a resort in Maine and meets Paul, who talks like a psychologist with a philosophy degree, cooks better than Jamie Oliver, and carves his own furniture.

The supporting cast; an ageing hippie mother with a much younger swain, a former girl friend, three teenagers and a daughter young enough to believe in magic, make an interesting, feel good, fairy tale story,,

It's worth buying for the ski lesson scene alone

4.0 out of 5 stars A Book About My Favorite Time of Year December 1, 2012
By Lynn
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I took a break from Christmas movies to read this book. I love it when lonely people find each other.
This book had plenty of romance without explicit sex scenes. A family who needed some magic and found it.
Everyone needs some Christmas Magic. If you do, read this book. I'm going to find another one and start reading!

5.0 out of 5 stars Perfect for the Season December 1, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I love Christmas and finding love under the tree (in a manner of speaking) is perhaps the best Christmas ever. :-) Better yet, finding love a second time around makes it very special.

The story of Carol Baker and Paul Love, "Mistletoe in Maine" is a variation of finding love in the unexpected places. Add a tween and three teenagers in the mix, an old high school sweetwheart and a cougar make a very interesting and enjoyable read.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't bother!
Poor writing, no character development, immature story. Really, I'm embarrassed I own it. What a waste of an hour from my life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent in every way!
Characters were believable, well-developed and there was just enough tension in the plot. Good story by a good writer. Good morals as well among the main characters.
