5.0 out of 5 stars A BDSM Feast
In my opinion this is JJ Giles' most ambitious work to-date. It is a veritable feast of BDSM scenes set amidst a backdrop of wealth, power, intrigue and a very dysfunctional family, albeit a family with the money and power to indulge all of their hedonistic delights. Ms. Giles lets her imagination run rampant and those who like a good erotic read will not come away...

3.0 out of 5 stars A Book with a 'warning' label
While an excellent erotica book filled with good writing and moving plot, the subject matter in "The Mistress and The Mouse" could scare away many readers.

As a reader of erotica, I tend to laugh at review titles like my own, assuming the 'warning' is in relation to the sex described in the book. Well, not this time. I'm recommending caution not because of...

5.0 out of 5 stars A BDSM Feast, September 11, 2007
This review is from: The Mistress and The Mouse (Paperback)
In my opinion this is JJ Giles' most ambitious work to-date. It is a veritable feast of BDSM scenes set amidst a backdrop of wealth, power, intrigue and a very dysfunctional family, albeit a family with the money and power to indulge all of their hedonistic delights. Ms. Giles lets her imagination run rampant and those who like a good erotic read will not come away disappointed. Those submissives who would put themselves under Ms. Giles firm and loving hand will be legion after reading the scenes within. The "railroad track," don't we ALL wish we had a train like THAT to play with!!! And I hadn't realized exactly 'what' one could do with super glue! It's a story with seemingly everything: hot sex (in a variety of ways), dungeon scenes, Masters and submissives, and love and redemption. I suppose to make it more accessible Ms. Giles released it as both a single work and a two-volume edition. BUY THE COMPLETE WORK! If you only buy volume One I guarantee you will soon be clicking away at the Amazon web-page ordering volume Two priority delivery.

This review is from: The Mistress and The Mouse (Paperback)
While an excellent erotica book filled with good writing and moving plot, the subject matter in "The Mistress and The Mouse" could scare away many readers.

As a reader of erotica, I tend to laugh at review titles like my own, assuming the 'warning' is in relation to the sex described in the book. Well, not this time. I'm recommending caution not because of the sexual acts, but because of who it is participating in them. Unless incest is your particular kink, or at least it doesn't bother you, don't bother with this book.

I'm torn, because while I enjoyed the rest of the book, the descriptions of father/son, father/daughter, brother/sister, etc. sex really made me uncomfortable. If you can separate yourself enough from the story to enjoy this aspect, knock yourself out, but I found myself squicked.

On a different note, this book has been tagged 'femdom,' which is true enough, but fans of this category may want to note that the dominant female also winds up submissive by the end.
