I couldn't wait to get my hands on this book and read it...I was not disappointed. For her debut book --- Delilah had me in stitches; I never laughed so hard in all my life when reading some of the scenes. The sexual tension between Edmund and Maybelle was so well written you could just feel it. The sex scenes were well written. Edmund's mother the Duchess was so down to earth and ruled her son with a firm but loving hand....I loved the way Edmund listen to his mother. Maybelle's grandmere was a woman before her time. Get comfy on your couch or favorite reading chair and kick back and enjoy a light-hearted funny read.

I can't wait to read Hawksford story next. I'm looking forward to reading more books by her.

It is only on occasion that I read a book in its entirety, but I read MISTRESS OF PLEASURE in one sitting. This book offeres a unique premise where the head-mistress of the School of Gallantry teaches men the art of seduction. I was surprised by how emotionally connected I became to Edmund and Maybelle as well as the other characters in the story. This was a fun, witty read, laced with tons of sexual tension and wicked play.

I saw Delilah read from her new book in Port Townsend this weekend, and I read "Mistress of Pleasure" in 3 sittings! The characters' motivations and psyches are quite real, the pace is streamlined, and the romantic tension begins almost at once--and keeps building from there. There are laugh-out-loud moments throughout, and the romantic scenes are well-written and satisfying. and hot! I can't wait to read the next one in the series.

This is a very intruiging book. It manages to lace more than a usual level of sensuality into a very interesting and funny story. I was in stiches during many of the scenes, especially between the hero and the students. The author has created a fantastic amount of tension, a remarkable heroine, and a yummy hero. The School of Gallantry? Sign me up.... and my Boyfriend too.

I won't give you a play by play of the plot, I think the excerpt does a good job. But if you want to be fanning yourself and get a nice dose of comedy at the same time, Mistress of Pleasure will do the trick.

Mistress of Pleasure is fun. It's delightfully, intriguingly, authentically, historically, fascinatingly sexy. And it's wonderfully well-researched and totally convincing.

Maybelle, brought up by her French courtesan grandmother, is really more into smuggling intellectual tomes under the bed-sheets than hiding porn. But she loves her grandmother and somehow ends up giving lessons in the School of Gallantry, where young men are taught, rather explicitly, how to win the undying devotion of their dear young women. Chapters start with delightful quotes from the school's guide book, then continue to both illustrate the quote and carry the story forwards. Meanwhile Maybelle, who thought perhaps losing her virginity would free her from the romantic indignities of society, finds herself falling and fallen for in the most entertaining way.

The story had me laughing out loud, smiling in satisfaction, and generally feeling like the cat that had got at the cream. I had no idea I was going to enjoy it so much, but enjoy it I did, and I'm sure I'll enjoy meeting the characters again in the sequel. A thoroughly entertaining read.

I really enjoyed Mistress Of Pleasure. Delilah did a great job on this debut and I can hardly wait for her next book. I hope this is a series because she had some wonderful secondary characters that I would love to read about.
If you like books that have strong sexual tension throughout and HOT love scenes, along with a good story, then you should pick this book up.

I read this book R E A L L Y SLOW! I simply didn't want it to end. It sounds corny but the book was pure pleasure. It wasn't the same old romance book-it dared to be funny, sensual and warm without sacrificing the plot or content of the book. I fell in love with the main characters but the others were so appealing that I wanted their stories to be told immediately. I wanted to be a part of that classroom SO BADLY! This book sizzles. And you laugh (out loud) and you sigh (out loud) too. These characters are appealing. The sex (OH YEAH)- cigarette please. such a refreshingly sensual read. Kudos to Delilah Marvelle. I can't wait to get my hands on her other students, ahem books! This is one author I will be haunting the bookstores for.

This book was refreshing. I won't go into details about the story because I believe that too many details in a review ruins the book for a potential reader. That said, this is not your typical lady and gentleman trying to overcome their love while avoiding a scandal and ruining a reputation. This book is different in the fact that most everything that happens is a scandal. It's refreshingly different from other Regency novels. It was fun to read, had sexy scenes, and the characters develop as the story goes on. Many characters start out as one way, but as you read, you realize they are really different than they first appear. They have depth and will surprise you. First appearances are not always as they seem. Some have said that Edmund was weak as he gives in to his mother and does not stand up for himself. I did not find this to be much of a "problem" with him or the book. It shows he has a heart and cares what his mother thinks. He is very "strong-minded" in other areas of his life and the book. Overall, I loved the story and the fact it is so different from other novels of that time period.

This book had it all! Good plot, unexpected discoveries, good sex and most importantly, a awesome H/H that really fit well together. There were some real LOL moments and I even re-read passages because they were so good. I normally sell or give away my books once I read them but, this is going into my "for keeps" stack. Great job!

This book was just fun fun fun. I laughed out loud. These characters are lovable and likeable. I love the strong female. I haven't read a historical in years because I got tired of the "please save me my big strong man". This was absolutly not that type of book. It was also incredibly steamy in a new a and fun way. Women taking the lead? I like it. Bring on Book number two.
