4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating
I had read Sharon Green's books for years, all of the Warrior series, the Jalav series, and others, but this one is by far my favorite. Something about these characters reached out and grabbed me.. Possibly the fact that Inky can be pushed so far and no farther , and then she takes a stand and says "no" loud and clear ( having done the same thing myself). I...

3.0 out of 5 stars First time disappointed
Sharon Green is 1 of my very favorite authors, I have all of her books & this is the 1st time I have ever been disappointed! I liked the characters a lot but disliked the book for 2 reasons. First, it takes too long to get to the action. The story doesn't get at all interesting until at least halfway thru the book & I'm sure there was much more they could have done with...

4.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating, December 27, 1999
This review is from: Mists of the Ages (Daw science fiction) (Paperback)
I had read Sharon Green's books for years, all of the Warrior series, the Jalav series, and others, but this one is by far my favorite. Something about these characters reached out and grabbed me.. Possibly the fact that Inky can be pushed so far and no farther , and then she takes a stand and says "no" loud and clear ( having done the same thing myself). I felt satisfied that she was going off to jail at the end of the book, because she just couldn't have done anything else and been Inky. However, I've been patiently waiting for the sequel for years now. I'm certain someone will come up with something to get her out of jail and back to the point where she can kick her thickheaded love into using the brain he had seemed to have until the last two chapters. If the sequel is out there, someone let me know!

4.0 out of 5 stars Would have loved it for not the horrible ending!, September 6, 1999

Like I said, it was great. I liked Inky, except for the way she became 'dependent' on Sarendon at the end. Sarendon, well him I didn't like but their partners Lydra and Chal I did, despite the fact they weren't as strong as I would have liked them to be. Sharon Green says this is supposed to be part of a trilogy, so that does explain the abrupt ending but it still is frustrating. The other thing that frustrates me, (on the whole it's a Sharon Green problem,) is that while the focus was originally supposed to be accomplishing the mission, by the time that's done the focus is on the romance. I found that was a problem for me in 'Silken Dreams' too but maybe that's just me.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best she's ever written, bar none., April 20, 1999
By A Customer

I've been a fan of Sharon Green's writing for about 15 years, and this is my absolute favorite of all she has done. The lead female is a high-tech thief, the lead male is an arena fighter. With friends, they end up investigating the disapearances and deaths of people who visit a certain pleasure plannet... I think the interplay of characters in this one is wonderful, and I reccomend that if you possibly can get ahold of a copy of this book, read it and enjoy!

Sharon Green is 1 of my very favorite authors, I have all of her books & this is the 1st time I have ever been disappointed! I liked the characters a lot but disliked the book for 2 reasons. First, it takes too long to get to the action. The story doesn't get at all interesting until at least halfway thru the book & I'm sure there was much more they could have done with the vacation spots in the Mist if they'd gotten to that part sooner. 2nd was the quick & abrupt ending. I had to read the last 2-3 pages several times before I was forced to realize there wasn't any more, it just stopped suddenly & that was it. Obviously the book ended before the story did & there was supposed to be a sequel which was either never written or published (a problem with some of her other books including Hellhound Magic & Lady Blade). What a shame!

Loved this book, it was full of imagination. Liked the characters and how they interacted with each other. The heroine was a thief with a strong determined will. The book kept me enthralled till the end and Ms. Green leaves us hanging. We need a sequel for this. also recomend The Challenge by Susan Kearney

3.0 out of 5 stars same as everyone, April 14, 2004

Would have given five stars, and I don't normally care for romance. Just amazingly well written, great characters, good plot. I'd give a fair amount of money to get a darn ending for this book! Please Sharon, write the sequal(s)!

This would be one of my all time favorite books, if Sharon Green had actually written the other two books. As it is, I was rivited until the ending, where I was just devastated. I had actually grown to care about the characters, and to see the ending was heart wrenching. A better ending or sequels would have gotten five stars from me, but as it is, only three.
