This is a beautiful soundtrack with a great variety of music with a celtic flavor. The songs are are all very emotionally moving and quite mysterious, like the movie. This music has the power to take you back to the Arthurian time and relive the experience.

'The Mystic's Dream' by Loreena McKennitt was a great addition to this soundtrack. She has such a lovely voice! 'I Will Remember You Still' by Aeone was also quite nice. Overall, this soundtrack was a magical experience for me and will be for you too.

Much like Trevor Jones' score to 'Merlin', Lee Holdridge has created a wonderful and magical experience that doubles as a score to the movie 'Mists of Avalon'.

Every single track evokes love, magic, sorrow and happiness in powerful uplifting cues and cues so wistful that they'll bring you close to tears. The art of the film score is mostly lost in this day and age with most Hollywood trash being scored by trash-metal guitars and blaring sound effects. Amid this cluster of cheese 'Mists of Avalon' is a Godsend and a saviour of hope.

If you like full orchestral scoring with passion and talent then there is no better recent example than this CD. You must buy. It's not an acquired taste to appreciate music of this calibre. After all, this is why God invented music. Yes, it is that good!

I saw the movie first before reading the book. I know, how horrible! But I really enjoyed the book. It is one my all-time favorites. Anyway, the soundtrack is great. I'm a huge fan of instrumentals, so I'm probably a bit biased, but it sounds amazing. There's Celtic hints obviously because the movie and book take from that time, but it also is just a nice instrumental soundtrack. I hadn't heard of the composer before, but I will definitely look for him in the future because I love this cd. I definitely recommend this to anyone who loves instrumentals, soundtracks, or orchestras.

After watching the TNT version of "The Mists of Avalon" I felt that something inside of me moved me along with the main character Morgaine! It wasn't the story at all, but rather the music that enchanted me. The music takes you on Morgaine's emotional journey and beyond into your journey of life. I thought that adding Loreena McKennitt's "The Mystic's Dream" was an exceptionally nice touch! I hope the music from this CD (if you choose to purchase it) will move you the way that it has moved me!

I got this CD a week ago, and I am not at all disappointed. "The Mystic's Dream," by Loreena McKennitt is the main reason I bought this soundtrack, but once I listened to the entire CD from beginning to end, I got many other favorites like "Morgaine's Journey,""Vivienne's Death," and especially "I Will Remember You Still," by Aeone. Yes, this soundtrack does repeat tunes, but that does not at all make it less enjoyable. Well, not to me anyway.

I read the book, own the movie (though it was a great disapointment compared to the book) and listened to the music. this is a must read and a must listen too for everyone. there are 4 other books in the avalon series, one brand new one by Diana L. Paxon

The most beautiful music. By far one of my favorite soundtracks ever. You'll listen to it over and over and over again and never get sick of it. Wonderful composing with a lovely celtic touch and Loreena McKennitt.......I love Mystics Dream my favorite of her songs. I highly recommend this CD. Buy it! You'll love it!

What can I say first read the book,and then visited Avalon on 3 occasions.
A must for kindred soul , could not reccomend it high enough, now byuing it as a gift.Great Voice Great Music.....

I love the flavor of ages now lost. The music stirs up longing for the magic of Kings, Castles and heroes. I always find Loreena's music passionately stirring. Thank you for letting me add one more CD to my collection!!

I have long been a Loreena McKinnet fan (8 years), since I am an Ontarian. I'm also an avid fantasy reader, and came across Mists of Avalon long ago. I worried about the movie, finally rented it and enjoyed myself. The books is better, of course.
The soundtrack. . .where to start. Yes, 'celtic' as modern day singers reconstruct celtic music. However, I found that the score tended to repeat main themes too much; it got repetetive (oh there goes Morgaine on the boat again) and could have had more life. The 'lancelot and guinevere' theme also cropped up like mushrooms. That is not to say those tracks weren't good, though! As for 'mysterious' or just plain ystic tracks, it was very well done.
'I will remember you still' is particularly poignant when recounting Arthur and Morgaine's separation as children.
Maybe I''m just too picky about music. Buy it, enjoy it, burn candles and do mystic rites while listening to it, whatever thrills you, as all the singers that contributed to this album were in top form.
