Mr. Misty Comfortmeter Indoor Hygrometer/Thermometer

My physic teacher once said, you know exactly what temperature it is when you have one thermometer. But when there are two, you're never sure. The reason is because more often than not, the thermometers are a bit off from each other. This is not the case with Mr. Misty. I bought two and tested them for a week. The hygrometer and thermometer readings are consistent on both units. However, I did not test the accuracy of the readings.

I bought 3 of these. The temperature readings are consistent with each other and other thermometers in the house. However, the hygrometer readings of all 3 are different among themselves and other brand hygrometers I have used to test their accuracy. The hygrometer on the worst of the 3 was 8 - 10% points higher than the other 2 and other brands.

Don't breathe on this or get it close to moisture or else it'll screw up the readings for about 30 minutes. Also don't use the velcro strap as they don't stick very well, on either end. I tried to put it up on the wall and it fell off after an hour or so. Otherwise works great.

I bought the Mr. Misty mainly for its thermometer capabilities, as I suspected that my landlord was cheating my apartment building on heat. That part of it seems to work well. However, I'm not as convinced by the humidity function. I started using that function because I have horrible allergies and my doctor suggested raising the humidity level indoors to help alieviate my symptoms. I use the Mr. Misty in conjunction with the Air-O-Swiss Ultrasonic humidifier and the read-out on the humidifier is consistently lower than the Mr. Misty. Sometimes the two read-outs are the same, but after the humidity reaches about 45%, the Mr. Misty seems to sky-rocket up and stay far above the other read-out. So my suggestion would be to use the Mr. Misty for temperature and not for humidity (unless you plan on keeping your humidity level below 45%).

I recently purchased 5 Mr. Misty Comfortmeter Indoor Hygrometer/Thermometers from Amazon. While all 5 gave the same temperature (plus-minus 1F) only 3 of the 5 agreed on relative humidity (RH); the other 2 were off by at least 10%. Amazon replaced one, but it was also off by 10% in RH. You wouldn't have known it unless you purchased several or had an independent RH meter. Given that most people would use this at home, e.g., to keep the RH between 30 - 40% during winter, this product is really hit-and-miss when it comes to reliable accuracy.

I got 2 of this for my indoor plants and they seem to be working fine. It is very sensitive to the changes although I have no way to check its accuracy. It works for me! I have to agree with the other commenter that the shipping is slow. But the product works just fine and you can't beat the price.

The humidity reading on our hygrometer varies from 28 - 30% and is completely inaccurate (it is really about 16% - we're in Denver!). The temperature gauge is closer to the actual temperature. Don't bother buying it if you plan on using the hygrometer feature. We're returning ours.

I purchased this hygrometer/thermometer mainly to measure the humidity in my house, but I don't know if it works. It has read 41 since I got it. Is that the normal humidity in a house?

It seems awfully high. I live in Arizona, where it hardly ever rains and when it finally rained the other day, the reading never changed. I don't think it's working. The thermometer part seems to work fine though.

This is a pretty simple and straight-forward Hygrometer / Thermometer. The readings are accurate.

The only thing, I wished it had was some kind of button which will switch on a small light within the display. That would have been a great feature to have, since you can see the reading, without having to switch on the light. That's a great thing to have, especially since I am using it in my son's room.

This product is great I shows change in temp and humidity very quickly. I have no complaints and I would recommend it to anyone that needs a indoor thermometer especially for office use.
