Book Description

December 1, 2006
On the coast of Maine, a tiny fishing village is home to people of strong character - and even stronger hearts. There is nothing Misty Harbor's residents like more than celebrating tradition, but sometimes it takes an outsider to help them embrace their future...At the same time his younger brother is preparing for his wedding, Matthew Porter sees his own future come crumbling down. For years, the burly outdoorsman has wanted two things: to have a family and to buy and renovate Misty Harbor's abandoned lighthouse. But now a major hotel chain has made a substantial offer for the lighthouse, and just when things seem bleak, he meets Sierra Morley. The daughter of the hotel chain's owner, Sierra has brought her son on a working vacation to Misty Harbor. The last thing she expects is to fall in love with the sweet Maine town just as it is - and with Matthew Porter. Soulful, gentle, and wonderful with kids, he's the sort of man she's been dreaming of. But once he knows who she is, will he still feel the same way about her? Matthew thought Sierra was just another summer tourist, not a woman who could steal his dream. But now that she's captured his heart, how could he possibly imagine letting her go...

Editorial Reviews

From Booklist

Sierra Morley is in town under false pretenses, but she can't keep herself from enjoying the company of Matt Porter, the handsome, articulate, and charming young carpenter she first encounters while both are enjoying the sunrise atop Carrie's Hill. Rock solid, if somewhat cash poor, Matt has nurtured one dream since childhood--to buy the lighthouse there and live in it. Sierra's hidden agenda, however, puts his dream at risk. Meanwhile, reclusive Gordon Hanley has a surprise visit from the daughter he had never met, and the townsfolk are all aflutter over the upcoming nuptials between Norah and Ned (Harbor Nights, 2005). Evanick deftly continues to develop her heartwarming contemporary series set in the tiny fishing town of Misty Harbor, Maine, with the cleverly intertwined romances of unlikely couples who find their heart's desire when they least expect it. Her many readers will embrace this new work featuring cameos by, and updates on, many favorite characters. Lynne Welch

5.0 out of 5 stars Very nice series, August 31, 2011

This review is from: A Misty Harbor Wedding (Mass Market Paperback)
This story and series will touch your heart. I wished the series lasted a lot longer. The first in the series, "Catch of the Day," was both delightful and thought prevoking. It dealt well with problems that most of us have dealt with in our lives. You will definitely like this series. You will like how the couples worked toward each other.

4.0 out of 5 stars Cute single mom romance - 3.5 stars, April 4, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: A Misty Harbor Wedding (Mass Market Paperback)
Matt Porter was born and raised in Misty Harbor, Maine and knows that a summer romance with a tourist is never a good idea - someone always winds up getting hurt. But he's willing to make an exception for Sierra Morley, the beautiful single mom he meets one morning while he's enjoying the view from the park surrounding the town's lighthouse. Dating a single mom, especially one who's only in town for a few short weeks, proves to be a bit tricky. And to make things just a little more complicated, Sierra has not exactly been upfront with Matt about what exactly brought her to Misty Harbor...

Well, this was a cute enough little story, although there's not a whole lot going on and I found myself bored in a few places. On the plus side, Matt and Sierra are very appealing characters and I thought the author did a nice job of portraying the challenges of dating when a small child is in the picture. It was particularly funny that Matt finds it almost impossible to get Sierra alone. Between her young son and his own boisterous extended family, it takes a whole lot of effort for these two to get together and that felt realistic.

There's a side story about one of the town's residents being reunited with his estranged daughter that felt awkwardly out of place. The character had nothing to do with either Matt or Sierra so it almost felt like the two storylines were competing.

Overall I enjoyed it; it's well-written despite the less than compelling plot. This book is part of the Misty Harbor series and is the follow-up to Harbor Nights (Zebra Contemporary Romance), although it works fine as a stand alone novel.

Very little (if any) strong language and mild/moderate sexual content.

3.0 out of 5 stars Wedding chimes were a bit weak, February 24, 2009
This review is from: A Misty Harbor Wedding (Mass Market Paperback)
Overall this is a good story, although not as good as the early entries in the Mysty Harbor series. I guess the chief problem for me was the disingenuous nature of the lead heroine, Sierra. Secrets are a common element in romances, but in this case Sierra hides the real reason for her visit to Mysty Harbor from everyone: to plan for a luxury hotel on land where an old lighthouse is sitting. The one bit of illogic about the mission is that Sierra, and other characters, seem to think that a luxury hotel alone will bring lots of tourists to Misty Harbor. The reality is that a hotel cannot guarantee tourists. There has to be attractions of some kind that bring them in.

Then Sierra complicates her mission by falling in lust with the lead hero, Matt, and becoming deeply involved in planning a wedding for a member of Matt's family. She finally realizes that her mission is destined for a head-on clash with Matt's long-time dream of owning the lighthouse. Of course, she comes up with a solution that will help everyone get what they want, but when she finally does the good deed to salvage Matt's dream, she insists on a job that will guarantee becoming a workaholic. I think this is a recipe for disaster in their marriage.

What saves this novel is the "B" story, the reconciliation between Gordon and Victoria and the romance between their daughter Juliet and Steve. This portion of the novel is clever, warm and very entertaining.
