This review is from: Misty (Audio CD)
While not up to "Charade,"Alfie" or Manhattan Stories Chestnut Mraz, and Nash (along with Jarrett's Trio) are probably the best oiled machine in trio jazz and can't make less than a four star effort.I prefer the Trio without Sax and here once again they deliver. At a certain pint (like with Jarrett,Peacock, and DeJohnette) they seem telepathic and know how to let it all blend before it happens which leads to a freedom of improvisation with nobody not in sympathy. This is what on larger level made the Big Band Era so great and here you have it on the micro level the way say Miles Wynton Kelly,P.C.trio's could make anybody sound good. Here they just do there thing and it's worth the high price of admission from performance to sound quality. Why buy three so-so Cd's an one that's not just "right"?
