Results May Vary,
This review is from: Mr. Misty Tankless Humidifier Shower Attachment (Health and Beauty)
I hope I can reconcile the opposite extremes in the previous reviews. This device is a very simple mister or atomizer. If you ever been to botanic gardens that have a rainforest building than you've probably experienced what a Mr. Misty COULD do.
The humidity in my apartment is certainly higher for using it and I'm happy with it, but I've noticed that most of the moisture goes down the bathtub drain. I tried putting a fan in my bathroom doorway to blow the moisture out so it wouldn't go all down the drain, but I quickly discovered that a lot (and I mean a lot) of moisture was condensing on every bathroom surface: walls, floor, countertop, toilet paper roll, etc. Naturally, if the Mr. Misty could be placed very high over a very open area so it could fully evaporate before condensing on the shower floor it would indeed give you the humidity of a rainforest. I've never seen a shower in a bathroom like that though, so you will find that the Mr. Misty will humidify a somewhat small area surrounding your bathroom. It works fine for my one-bedroom apartment but don't be surprised if a single Mr. Misty in one bathroom does not significantly humidify a large home throughout. Perhaps needless to say, it is completely maintenance free, has no moving parts except for the open/close valve, and consumes no electricity and only the amount of water that can flow through it (which is nominal but may add up if run continuously -- I don't pay for water so I wouldn't know).

This Product Works Extremely Well,

I purchased this product around the holidays last year and have been extremely happy with it. It was a breeze to install and it saves me a ton of time from having to fill up my traditional humidifier every other day. It does make a minor hissing noise when the steam is let out. Also, be sure not to leave anything in your shower that you wouldn't want to be damp for a very extended period of time. I have definitely noticed that the static electricity during the dry winter months is much less. I am very happy with mine and am going to buy a second one as a gift. One thing that I noticed that may cut down on the effectiveness is if you have a vent in your bathroom that automatically sucks out air. You have to cover it up or shut it off to get the full effect of the humidity.

Mr. Misty Works Great After a Little Tweak,
By Steve B. (Raleigh NC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Mr. Misty Tankless Humidifier Shower Attachment (Health and Beauty)
We were looking for a humidifier that would be the most hands-off and low maintenance (no cleaning or refilling tank) and found Mr. Misty. Although the comments at Amazon ran the gamut from "didn't work" to "worked wonderfully," based on the latter we gave it a try. Our home is about 1200 square feet with a centrally located second bathroom. It has a full bath with a shower in it. By itself Mr. Misty caused drops of water on the rim of the bath tub and some on the floor. We closed the shower curtain until there was 12 inches of opening at the far end from the shower head and then pointed a small fan at that opening from 5 feet away. This works great. No more moisture on the floor. Our relative humidity went from around 30% without Mr. Misty to 45% with Mr. Misty. Also, we are able to lower the thermostat and still be comfortable because of more moisture in the air. Lowering the thermostat will lower heating bills and lower temperatures increase the relative humidity; two positive effects. From what I can determine on the Internet, ideal relative humidity is around 45%.
