About the Artist

Mitch Hedberg was one of the smartest, strangest, and by far most creative standup comedians of his day. Likened to a younger, hipper Steven Wright, Mitch garnered a large rabid following with observations like "Mr. Pibb is a poor imitation of Dr. Pepper. Dude didn't even get his degree." Mitch All Together is a double-digipak that contains a full-length CD of Mitch's newest observations, as well as a DVD of his best on-air performances and more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comedy Gold April 2, 2005
Format:Audio CD
Mitch Hedberg has long been a bit of a cult-comic, having made numerous appearances on The Late Show with David Letterman & Howard Stern. In the late 90s Hedberg was courted by several networks for a sitcom and heralded by Time Magazine as "the next Seinfeld," due to his growing popularity and offbeat observational style of humor, but no sit-com ever materialized and Hedberg continued to build up his cult status on the road. His laidback style and unique one-liner deliveries made him both a favorite of his fellow comedians and on college campuses even though he didn't get mainstream recognition.

This is Mitch's second and final comedy CD (Hedberg died in March 2005 from a heartattack). But he left us with an outstanding CD that has 40minutes worth of great material. Mitch took a few of his good jokes from his first CD and made them into outstanding jokes on this CD. The title is taken from a joke on his first album, which he really should've included again on this one. Mitch's first comedy CD was flawed and stilted, but practice makes perfect and Mitch fires on all cylinders for this CD with expert timing and deliveries. He has the audience eating out of his hand and he'll have you pushing repeat once the CD ends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Totally original, smart --- and funny January 11, 2007
Format:Audio CD
'I used to do drugs,'' Mitch Hedberg liked to say. ''I still do drugs. But I used to, too.'' On March 29, 2005, that line stopped being funny --- Mitch Hedberg was found dead in a New Jersey motel room. He was 37 years old.

Mitch would be the first to note the incongruity between his status as a rising comedy star and his career-and-life-ender of a presumably accidental overdose. The distance between appearance and reality, between language and truth --- that space was his playground. He was comedian-as-philosopher, comic-as-linguist. Give Mitch an everyday occurrence, and he'd hold it up to the light and deconstruct it. His humor was quiet, non-physical, smart --- there wasn't a dirty joke in his repertoire.

His art started with his self-presentation. He was tall and gangly and not altogether comfortable onstage, and he emphasized his discomfort. His hair was long and parted in the middle, so it flopped over his face when he looked down at the floor, which he did a lot. The lenses of his glasses were tinted light blue, the better to hide behind. He sometimes wore a Backstage Pass when he performed, "so when I leave the stage, I won't have problems."

Some comedians tell stories, others create characters. Mitch worked in a more demanding tradition --- the one-liner. And not one-liners that needed a set-up. The pure one-liner, the Zen one-liner, the one-liner that just sits there, surrounded by silence until you add your contribution, which is laughter. If you happen to admire the comedy of Steven Wright, you are Mitch's ideal audience.

Mitch had a distinctive way of speaking that made him funnier than he can ever be on the page.

4.0 out of 5 stars You'll laugh like a son of a "Mitch". February 10, 2004
By H3@+h
Format:Audio CD
There's really only one thing to know about this disc, it absolutely hysterical. I mean, crying funny, that's how funny it is. If you know "Mitch", you know what I'm talking about. If you don't, "Mitch's" sense of humor is much like "Steven Wrights", but "Mitch's" delivery is much like "Steven Wright" on speed. It's even funnier because he laughs at his own stuff. He does use the F-word alot, but I feel it only adds to the jokes. This does come with a DVD of two different shows that's pretty good, but the cd is the reason to get this. He's one of the best comics in years, and this is highly recommended.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Comedy, Deceptive DVD March 29, 2005
By Quentin
Format:Audio CD
I just bought the CD, and I really like Mitch's comedy. This CD is, in my opinion better than "Strategic Grill Locations," where he oftentimes makes kind of bad jokes and then calls himself on it. His material and delivery are much stronger on this album, and he's gotten a bit more clever too.

Be warned though, his comedy isn't for everyone. However, if you are (or used to be, or enjoy a friend who is) a pothead, you might like his style a little more. He's kind of like a laid back funny hippy. Sometimes the jokes are intelligent, but he oftentimes just plays on words, which in itself is clever, but not "intellectual comedy" that is sometimes popular.

He does have his own style, which could turn some people off, but I would think that those people are they type that would think that he really tries to be like his comedic character in real life.

About the DVD, it is not footage from the CD, but from his comedy central special instead. It actually has a lot (but not all of) the material from Strategic Grill locations. It has the *complete*, unedited version of his comedy central special, which has some jokes that I have never heard, also some tags on old jokes that I never heard (the Ritz cracker tags are really good, some are not on Strategic Grill Locations).

Anyway, really good, although I wish they had footage from the same album too. Basically, if you like the sound samples, you will love the CD and DVD.
