"A Genius! Wild and Witty!" -- the Chicago Tribune

"Bewitching Kitsch!" -- The Village Voice

About the Author

Mitch O'Connell has somehow has been able to make a living as a freelance artist. Big shot editorial clients include, Rolling Stone, Newsweek, GQ, The New York Times, Time, Playboy, Entertainment Weekly, The New Yorker and Juggs! Advertising campaign art for Coke, McDonalds, KFC, Kellogs plus many more. In-between paying jobs he creates fine art masterpieces that adorn gallery walls (the trick he's working on now is to get folks to buy 'em and hang 'em on their own walls). He's exhibited from New York to Chicago, to Germany to Miami to Tokyo to Hollywood to Mexico.

No one blows their own horn louder than artist Mitch O'Connell--and no one lives up to the hype better than he. O'Connell's all-consuming obsession with the kitsch and the bizarre is matched by his mastery of his subject. No one paints sexier "cheesecake" or renders more perfect replications of pop culture ephemera than does Mr. O'Connell. His devotion to maniacal clowns, Tor Johnson and "Li'l Puddles" is second to none. The artist narrates his career overview in the character of a comically demented huckster of his own wares. Yes, the man is a genius in his own mind, but the evidence that he's right is on the page for all to see. A must-buy masterpiece of post-modern high and low art.

Mitch O'Connell has been a top contributor to national publications for years with his instantly-recognizable, imaginative style. Fans of illustration in general and kitsch, retro and pin-up art in particular have gotten to know his name and enjoy his work. Now any Mitch O'Connell fan can take a deep dive into the life of this top-notch pro with this thick book which combines art from his early career -- okay, earliest days! -- with O'Connell's laugh-out-loud writing. We journey through Mitch's art and life and enjoy the character he's created for himself as the World's Best Artist. By the end of this thick volume we have a real appreciation for his astounding and always impressive output, the hard work it takes to do his job and the lightness and joy he obviously takes in it every day.

I have been a connoisseur of mitch's work for a long time. Then I found a french to english dictionary and realized Im actually a stalker! With this book I can enjoy his work from my cell...once the boys in the yard get done knifing each other over it! Don't worry, the glossy print and hard cover is built to last any orgy / bloodbath. Seriously, good collection and story of a fine career/style. more more more
