5.0 out of 5 stars WHY NOT?, July 4, 2011
In my second year of clarinet playing, I decided to get a better reed the rico, I tryed vandoren because it seemed to be the most popular (and quite frankly the most expensive) reeds, Then i tryed this reed. I was blown away at how much better these sounded, it was way easiyer to hit higher and lower nots from other reeds because the reed vibrates more freely, thus you dont need to bit down as hard and your lower lip will thank you (I once bit through my lip trying to squeak out an upper g)and you can play longer, I dont see why most people use these verses vandoren, these are less expensive and sound way better and are easyer to play on. unfortunatly I have resently started ply tenor sax on the side and mitchel lurie dosent make sax reeds, I just wish they made sax reeds too, anyway, totally worth it! and they dont crack as easily as rico do :)

5.0 out of 5 stars Good choice for student clarinetists, August 30, 2010
I've taught clarinet privately for nearly 30 years. I frequently recommend Mitchell Lurie reeds to my students because they are responsive and have good tone at an acceptable price. This is the reed I started my own son on.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best, October 17, 2009

I've been using Mitchell Lurie reeds for about 7 years now, exclusively. I'm a band director and I want a reed that will perform in several ways. I want tone, great tone from my students, and so I want the highest strength each student can handle. This is the reed that lets them play a half or a whole number higher than other reeds. Great results, every time. Thanks to Amazon we can afford lots of reeds. Great price, great product, every time.

This is my go-to reed when my embouchure feels a bit weak. I think I produce a better tone with Gonzalez reeds which are somewhat stiffer but are not as readily available. I like to have both types at hand. I've noticed the deteriorating quality of Vandoren although some of my friends still swear by them.

I teach band and I order these for my students all the time. They respond well in the upper register and seem to last longer than the traditional Rico, or Rico Royal reeds. There are better products out there (Vandoren) but for the money and consistency, these are hard to beat.

These reeds are high quality and Amazon offers an incredible price. Make sure to order enough as beginning clarinet players go through a lot of these quickly.

5.0 out of 5 stars Consistent from reed to reed., December 24, 2011

I find Mitchell Lurie reeds to be quite consistent from one reed to the next. I can usually make all 10 reeds in a box play great and rarely find a reed that's not capable of giving me the sound I want.

My daughter needed reeds for an upcoming performance, and I can't buy them for a price close to this locally.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great reeds, February 12, 2011
This review is from: Mitchell Lurie Bb Clarinet Reeds, Strength 3.0, 10-pack (Electronics)
Much better than the Rico counterpart. Rico is good for students just starting out. But if you are in your third to fourth year, its time to upgrade. This lasted through high school. Great sound quality, and lasted a while when you take care of them.
