3.0 out of 5 stars Let It Snow in Mitford & Wherever You Are!, November 28, 2005
This review is from: The Mitford Snowmen: A Christmas Story (Hardcover)
Jan Karon has written several volumes on Mitford, North Carolina, and the main charactres, Father Tim Kavanaugh, Cynthia Coppersmith, Emma Newland, and Ester Bolin among others. In this Christmas story, first published in 2001, we learn that Mitford has a woman mayor, Esther Cunningham, who declares every snowman builder a winner of doughnuts and hot chocolate. We visit Winnie Ivie's Sweet Stuff Bakery and Happy Endings Bookstore there on Main Street.

This volume along with ESTHER'S GIFT (in which the annual marmalade cakes show the real meaning of gift-giving at Christmas) was sold as a gift set in 2003 and included in SHEPHERDS ABIDING in 2004. Another favorite of mine is A NEW SONG (2000). She also issued MITFORD COOKBOOK AND KITCHEN READER. Her children's books include JEREMY BUNNY and MISS FANNIE'S HAT (OR CAT). This is a cute little gift book perfect as a stocking stuffer with a place to personalize it in the front. I found it at the public library, but it is available here at Amazon.com in different packages. Take your pick. And have a Merry Christmas Holiday Season. "Christ is the reason for Christmas."
