4.0 out of 5 stars Good for basic and intermediate repairs and maintenance
I had an 1989 Eagle Summit which was the equivalent of the Mitsubishi Mirage, and this book covered the general maintenance and the small couple of repairs I did on my own. I'm not sure how useful it would be if I needed to do something major, but it's got a ton of pictures and tells you exactly what tools you need for each job. My only beef is that it covers 5 different...

2.0 out of 5 stars Only bad Haynes book I've seen
I own a dozen Haynes repair manuals and they're all great withthe exception of this one. It's written in far too general a mannerand is not for someone who couldn't probably figure it out on their own based on their previous automotive experience. If you own a Galant GSX or VR-4 (I have a VR-4), get the Eclipse book. It's far more detailed, is actually correct about...

2.0 out of 5 stars Only bad Haynes book I've seen, May 7, 2000
This review is from: Mitsubishi Automotive Repair Manual: Cordia, Tredia, Precis, Mirage, Galant, 1983 Thru 1993, All Models (Paperback)
It's far more detailed, is actually correct about some procedures where this book isn't, and the minor differences between the two vehicles is easy to sort out on your own. For example, I had to replace the heater core in my Galant VR-4. The Galant book was useless and I don't even recall seeing any pictures for this difficult and tedious procedure. However, using the Eclipse book, I was able to get the job done. I've made many minor and major modifications to my car ( ) and have used the Eclipse book as a reference for all of them. I recycled my Galant book. One warning about the Haynes Eclipse book -- if you're doing an engine overhaul, get the Mitsubishi factory service manual. Some of the specs in Haynes are incorrect, enough so to really mess something up. Save yourself some time and get a rebuilt engine ( ). Way easier.

I'm not sure how useful it would be if I needed to do something major, but it's got a ton of pictures and tells you exactly what tools you need for each job. My only beef is that it covers 5 different models through 10 model years but only has photos of 1988 models and parts. Usually I didn't need a photo of what I was working on because the text description was enough, but I would look for the manufacturer's manual if you need to do something major.
