The projector preforms very well. Picture quality is excellent. Easy to operate. With a ceiling mount and even though the projector has no lens shift I had no problem obtaining an image with no keystoning problems. Projector is extremely quiet. Very little fan noise. Switching between multiple input sources is easy. The projector is brighter that the one I replaced but I did expect it to be a little brighter that what it is. However brightness is very acceptable. Contrast is execellent.

I shopped for 6 months before purchasing a projector...I went to a local company that specializes in home theaters and looked at thier demo machines. The HC3000 had better picture quality that projecters twice thier cost!! It may not have all the options, bells, and whistles as the expensive machines, but you cannot go wrong with this one. Just hook it up to your DVD player and you are ready to go! I was extremely cautious in purchasing a home theater system, because I wanted to get the best bang for my buck. I feel like I got it with the Mitsubishi HC3000u.
I also purchased the universal Telehook ceiling mount. When I get my screen (right now I shine it against a wall) I will be all set!!

I bought this product after researching all over the net. It is one of the best product on this price range. It is very easy to install and operate. I love it and will highly recommend for anyone who wants a projector. If you limit its use only to watch movie rather than regular TV programs, the lamp will last longer.

I love my new projector,I had a theater built for me in my basement and the guy I hired bailed on me and he recommended the 3000U after researching I new he was right, great colors, even on a dark green wall. I watch movies for a month on the wall and even hesitated buying a screen, but anyhow the projector is great and very easy to install because I had to finish the theater myself, and the price from amazon beat everybody's price and it was delivered in no time.

We got this projector for Christmas in 2007 and have used it for at least three hours a week, every week since then. Some weeks, it was used much more for gaming. I estimate the lamp lasted at least 900 hours, and possibly much longer (there was a time when my son and his friends used it for five hours a day several days a week). It is rated for 2000 hours, but I wonder now if that is 2000 hours on the "low" setting (and will have a much shorter life on "normal").
We always used the lamp on "low" mode, and have been happy with the experience (we project onto an 8' wide screen, so it's a lot like going to a movie theater). We use it in a large room that has navy blue (read: very dark) walls. Lighter rooms may require operation with the "normal" bulb brightness (which will probably decrease life dramatically). Today, a message was displayed on the screen indicating that the lamp was going to fail soon. I like that it gives some advance warning (but not that the lamp will cost up to one third of the original cost of the projector. There are "hybrid" and "compatible brand" lamp options now (with the same performance and life ratings), which didn't exist before. I gave the projector low marks for Ease of Use and Features because it is too difficult to get it to work with a laptop computer or to get the desired aspect ratio. Sometimes it seems like the picture is stretched (non-uniformly). The operator's manual is inexcusably abysmally horrid, if you get my drift. We did get it set up so it's acceptably usable, with little further adjustment required, and I've gotten to the point where any imperfections don't bother me anymore (I tend to be critical--not sure if that is evident). In the beginning, the picture took some getting used to, and some (a few) movies seemed jittery or something (early experiences were a long time ago now, so I am forgetting ...). You can see pixellation occasionally if you are looking for it. Caveat for some people: It is not much like an LCD flat screen picture (which is much sharper and more brilliant; but, to me, that looks a unrealistic). All in all, it has been a very good value, and we really like the movie theater experience at home. The other really nice feature is it's easily portable. If I were looking again today, I would look for a 1080-line projector (was at least double the price in 2007). I gave it four stars, because, after almost four years, I still really like it, even though it has its shortcomings.

I picked mine up at on sale Best Buy for $600 (before tax), and what a deal! I've got mine set to a 60 inch screen setting from about 10 feet away, and it looks fantastic. Air filter is easy to clean, and is compatible with most ceiling mounts. Has all sorts of connectivities and is great for work (laptop) and home entertainment. Works best in a low-light room. Standing within 2 feet of screen can reveal DLP grid, but completely invisible from normal viewing distances.

I built my Home Theater Room over a year ago, and did a lot of research and settled on this projector. If I could do it all over again, I would again pick this same projector. After a year of steady use (an hour a day, average) the projector is as bright, clear and as fresh from the box. At 2 to 3 thousand hour bulb life, this projector is going to last another 5 to 6 years. Over the past year I did buy (and returned) some HDMI cables, and an upconvert DVD player and saw no noticeble difference in picture quality over the radio shack component video cables. You don't need an expensive screen, so run your cables in the wall, under the carpet, or thru cable hides and your projector will seem to operate by magic, out of the way, overhead, and silently.

It cost me 1800.00. Picture is movie theater quality. Color and contrast (black/whites) is better than any projector even ones with higher specs. I use the bare wall for screen and its not even completely white wall. 100 inch wide screen and its better pic than most flat panel TVs. Make sure u connect using HDMI cable for best result. But composite connection is good too. Check this review http://www.projectorcentral.com/mitsubishi_hc3000.htm

I bought this projector because Consumer Reports rated it in the top 5 models that they tested. It was also considered one of their best buys. I got it home and set it up. Immediately I noticed that the fan was very noisy. Once you are watching a movie with the surround sound going, you almost don't notice it until you come to a quiet scene. Also, we had to replace the first bulb within 4 months of owning the system. I would recommend getting the Sony VPL over this any time.
