I have the WD-57731 Which is in the same family as other similar models for this TV.
I purchased it on 1/20/07 On 3/29/09 I am without a tv once again and am going on my third lamp replacement. The Tv often overheats and shuts itself down. @ $200 dollars per lamp this is a real problem. Mitsubishi will not even admit that there is a defect wtith these sets. Shame on Mitsubishi and I sure wish I had gotten the JVC that I was going to buy.

Not Perfect But Good Value For the Price,

I bought this TV off Amazon over the summer to replace a Sony KDS-60A2000 that I had sold due to a move. I wanted to get the KDS-60A2020 to replace it but I had some concern about the weight/width for getting it into the family room of my new residence.
The Mitsubishi TV solved most of those problems. The TV is only about 14" deep and weighs around 65 lbs. Not bad for a TV of this size (the Sony was about 20" thick and weighed about 95 lbs). The TV has 3 HDMI ports (all of which are being used now, compared to the Sony's 2) and has dual digital tuners. It's useful if you want to get OTA HDTV and your regular cable as well. Really the only flaws are some weird screen geometry (warping on the left-hand side of the screen) and occasional issues with HDCP and the HDMI. Supposedly the set is using HDMI 1.3 and I think this may be causing sets with the Playstation 3 which is also supposedly HDMI 1.3. My other HDMI devices, an Xbox 360 and a HD cable box both work fine but sometimes the PS3 just loses the signal and I have to plug/unplug the cable from the back of the TV. I haven't had any issues with component or any other connections, just the PS3's HDMI. There's also a noticeable lag when changing resolutions via HDMI (I've noticed when changing from 480p/720p/1080i/1080p). I'd also say that the remote is kind of cheap and not that great (although the multifunction abilities were able to interact 75% properly with my rather obscure audio system successfully drop down to 2 remote controls). Those are not huge deal breakers for me and the cost for the size was great. Plus, as a DLP set I'm less worried about the green blob issue that I used to notice on my Sony set.

I have a WD52528 which is basiclly the same set. In two years I had the Store, where I bought it and in warranty, replace the light engin and mirror. Less than another year I replace the lamp, that one was my cost. What I see is if this set is not in a VERY CLEAN enviroment, you will have problems with things like dust, cooking, etc. It will become a very expensive set to maintain and keep the origional picture quality that you start with. I fyou buy it get a life time warranty!

A lot of TV for the money,

I've been waiting to decide which way to go, LCD or Plasma for over a year now. When I saw this DLP I was sceptical about the technology, picture, and quality. Could a DLP compare to LCD or plasma? I was blown away by the picture not to mention the price was half what LCD/Plasmas cost. My 57" Mitsubishi is wonderful. The only thing negative and it is a minor issue is the sound is somewhat "tinny". This thing should have an external speaker system. (I suppose that is also true of any large LCD/Plasma/DLP tv.) I wouldn't trade my Mitsubishi for anything else on the market...except for maybe the 63 or 73" model of the same.

Great TV, but...,

Happy with the TV, however, I am a "noise-person". The littlest noises can drive me crazy, and this TV made a low hum from the day we bought it. Actually tried to bring it back, but through many problems with Conn's (don't shop there!), we ended up keeping it. Did some looking around on the internet and apparently this hum is common with Mitsubishi TVs. It has something to do with the color wheel technology they use. Anyways, I can zone the hum out when watching shows, so I can live with it. Some people don't even notice the noise until it's pointed out. Besides, the picture quality is great, and it was very inexpensive for such a large size. If you think you may have a problem with the low hum, make sure you know about the return policy wherever you buy it from... including any restocking fees.

OUTSTANDING T.V., Great Value,

I purchased the Mitsubishi WD-57733 T.V. on December 11, 2007. I can only say one word to describe it, (OUTSTANDING). Setup was a breeze. The picture is just out of this world. My biggest surprise was the built in sound system, a real delight to my ears. Connections galore. I have not purchased a high-definition DVR yet. I just used my progressive scan Yamaha DVR to watch Polar Express and WOW, I felt like I was actually there. Mitsubishi really got it right with this T.V. I highly recommend this item.

Just purchased one of these after some very extensive research. Brought it home today, plugged it in, and started watching. Very nice picture with the HD channels and fairly decent with std def. I was really pumped to watch some College Football tomorrow, and had a nice little party planned around the new TV. However, after less than an hour of watching it, it gave off a very loud "BANG" in the back of the TV and the screen went dead. I turned it on again, and there was sound but no picture....and a grinding noise in the back.
I bought this TV from CompUSA and got the extended warranty. Called their customer service line, and they told me to just take it back to the store. Ugh. I just got done running around for a few hours and rented a truck to get it to my house, and now they want me to pack it back up and take it back in? Whats the sense of buying an "In-Home" warranty? Overall, I have been a Sony TV man for many years, and this was my first Mitsubishi purchase. After this experience, it will most likely be my last.

as most of your were i was thrilled with my tv purchase. in 4 years i am on my 4th bulb. but just wait until you start getting the white spots all over your screen, they grow at a rate of 2-3 MORE every couple of days. this is from the color wheel going bad. and how 'bout around a grand to fix that. i've had my MITSUBISHI WD57733 as i said for 4 years, unfortunatley, i paid closer to 2K for it. I CAN NOT STRESS ENOUGH,.............DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!

The picture is great, but we've spent hundreds of dollars on replacement lamplights because they keep going out every few months.
It's getting expensive to keep this tv and honestly, the hassle is more than a little annoying. I wish we'd read reviews and bought a different (better!) brand before jumping the gun on this one.

$250 bulb replacement cost. DO NOT EVER BUY,
This review is from: Mitsubishi WD-57733 57-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV (Electronics)
Ok, so ask the salesman about your warranty on this tv set. I bought mine in September 2008 for $1199 plus $375 for the 5 year warranty (which I found out the hard way does NOT cover bulb replacement). The blew out in 15 months, which I guess is common within 1.5 to 2 years. However, the replacement bulbs for this set are $249. SAVE YOUR MONEY AND SPEND A FEW EXTRA BUCKS ON A PLASMA OR LCD, you will thank me later.
