Mitsubishi 57" DLP,

Excellent bright HD picture. I chose a DLP because it was to be installed in and entertainment center so depth was of no concern. Also, a larger DLP unit can fit into same space as a smaller LCD since there is less framework around the screen. I was able to fit a 57" DLP into the space where a 52" LCD would fit.

This tv was an absolute steal. The picture quality in HD is phenomenal, and I was pleasantly surprised to see that it actually does really well with standard definition, too. I bought a Blu-Ray dvd player just to see what the tv was really capable of, and I was blown away by the clarity and color depth. I highly recommend this television.

Awesome DLP HDTV,

I just recently purchased this set after wading through every televison set on the market. LCDs, Plasma, all major brands, etc. etc. I finally choose the Mitsubishi. It has great color, depth, and clarity. I have it hooked up to my Bose system, HDTV cable box, and a Wii gaming console. All the attached components look and sound awesome. Combined with a Harmony remote to control all those components makes it much easier to control. 1080i looks awesome and Blue Ray just blows me away. The upconversion, or "plush", does a great job of boosting the lower resolutions up to 1080. This set is definitely not lackinig in inputs. There are four HDMI (3 rear and 1 front), 3 component (2 rear, 1 front), s-video, optical audio, computer connection, etc. It automatically recognizes when in input is connected! Input customization is also available. An IR controller gadget called Net Command is also included which lets you control your older audi or video components with the Mitsubishi remote. Awesome video and audio, inputs galore, external device control, what more can you ask for in a television set. If it could fetch me a beer I would be in heaven. Enjoy!

Great picture - but known problems from the factory,

This review is from: Mitsubishi WD-57734 57-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV (Electronics)
I have had this TV for two years, and I have loved most of it. Recently the picture just went black and an orange indicator light started blinking. Mitsubishi factory support told me that I need a new bulb ($275). So I ordered one and replaced it (very easily done with one screw driver). When that did not fix the problem, I was told that they probably shipped me a bad bulb. I had to order another bulb and pay restocking on the first one. The second bulb did not fix it either. Finally, a local TV repairman helped me figure out that my TV has a known software problem from Mitsubishi. With his help, Mitsubishi finally sent me the software fix for free, but I still had to pay the repairman. The whole matter took about one month to fix. Now it is working great again. I just Mitsubishi would be up front about their known problems instead of trying to get me to buy additional parts.

Checked out too many systems to count. Settled on DLP because it made sense. Unit arrived 1 week early (Electronics Expo is great.) Unpacked it, plugged it in, connected the cable, & it has been flawless. People are actually STUNNED when they see the screen. Worth alot more than the $1400 I paid. If you're looking for a 57" system, don't even bother checking the others out.

Please see my post here: "http://www.amazon.com/review/RKHJ50JAXDBUK/ref=cm_cr_rev_detup_redir?_encoding=UTF8&cdPage=1&newContentNum=4&newContentID=MxB40D9BM4EBOL#Mx18R5JSHA6FLL8"
I have owned this set since SEP '07; and was initially EXTREMELY pleased with the performance and quality of this set. After 1 year of ownership, internal speaker failure became intermittent (this is a widespread problem, please check google); with the left speaker failing and or making a cracking / popping sound. SHortly there after is stopped working for months at a time. On my second year anniversary of owning this set, I purchased a new AV/R & sound bar combination from sony, which if you do not visit the above stated link, killed my set (not the Sony's fault)... Apparently mitsubishi sold this set with the intention of NOT BEING ABLE TO USE IT WITH AN AVR over HDMI... what is the point of selling a "premium" 1080P DLP, if you cannot integrate it with a high end sound system... if you are curious about my assertion, please review p.23 of this set's user manual... it's there, plain as day... i guess i missed that, simply assuming that a set boasting a universally standard media format (HDMI), would in fact universally work with said format... boy was I wrong! Steer clear of this or any similar set form mitsu, trust me, do some basic googling, the information is out there on AV forms, CNET, etc.... there is even a class action lawsuit in effect.... Buyer beware!

I love this TV. HD is sharp and vivid. The colors are amazing. Its very light weight despite the size. I was so surprised that I could pick this up by myself. I have 2 minor complaints
* it could use a few more HDMI inputs * included universal remote doesn't have code scan so if its not in the code book your stuck. (I purchased Logitech Harmony remote) These are minor complaints though. This is an amazing TV.

We recieved the TV 2 weeks after ordering it and it arrived broken. We contacted amazon and butterfly photo of the problem. Amazon was great through out, I wish I could say the same of butterfly photo. Their customer service was the worst I have ever experienced. We called them 3 times; the first time waited on hold for over a 1/2 hour and was told that it would be a few days for the claim to be filed, the 2nd time (9 days later after hearing nothing from them) and waited on hold for over an hour only to call back abd find out that they sent me to a department that no one was in that day and that I would need to call back again, the 3rd time waited on hold for over 1/2 hour and was told they would call us back when the person we needed to talk to got back to her desk. We never recieved a call. We contacted Amazon that we wanted refunded our money and they did with in a week. Amazon stands behind thier A-Z guarantee.
