5.0 out of 5 stars Great TV at great price!
I surfed the internet and compared TV's for months and finally decided to go the Mitsubishi WD-73735.

I wanted the biggest TV for my basement that I get for a reasonable price, and this DLP TV was the way I finally decided to go. And I definitely made a good decision.

3.0 out of 5 stars alittle disappointed
In order to keep the price lower,I guess, mitsu, left out the second tuner, therefore you can't do PIP with this set!!! the picture is great, but wasn't aware of that surprise until I received the set!! I had an earlier model of the 73 inch and never dreamed this one would not have that feature, as I use that to watch various sources at once!!I haven't had the chance to...

I surfed the internet and compared TV's for months and finally decided to go the Mitsubishi WD-73735.

I wanted the biggest TV for my basement that I get for a reasonable price, and this DLP TV was the way I finally decided to go. And I definitely made a good decision.

I am very happy with the TV and also bought the matching stand (which I also highly recommend).

I would also recommend buying the TV directly from Amazon.com, free shipping, no tax, and the white glove delivery (which Amazon needs to play up more, because it is fantastic; they call you schedule delivery, unbox the TV, carry it in the house, and do some minor setup for you).

Bottom line, wonderful TV.

Only bad things I can say would be:
1.) Since it is a DLP TV it takes up to 30 seconds to boot/start-up (common with most large DLP TVs)
2.) You might want to pickup a color calibration DVD to tune the TV. It's not bad out of the box, but the $20-$30 for a calibration DVD is completely worth it (this also seems to be a common thing with most Mitsubishi TV reviews)
3.) And now all other TVs are too small! After watching TV on the 73 inch, watching TV on a 27 inch TV will drive you crazy! (You can actually say that this is good thing!)

These 3 "complaints" are very minor, and I would highly recommend this TV.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best TV for the Price, April 1, 2009
This review is from: Mitsubishi WD-73735 73-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV (Electronics)
I love this TV I searched and researched a lot of TVs and found this TV to be the best and BIGGGGEEEST for the price. When it arrived I hooked it up quickly to my PS3 and Wii (I have also hooked up my iPhone and it displays video content just great) the picture quality was even better that I could hope for. the only down side to this TV is the sound quality (at least in my big family room) but no problem because I have an external sound source hooked up suppling crisp surround sound anyway!
Bottom line...dont think twice about getting this tv just get it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome DLP TV, October 31, 2009
This review is from: Mitsubishi WD-73735 73-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV (Electronics)
I recently purchased this tv from another store and not Amazon. But it was still cheap. Any hoot, for a 73 inch TV, you really do get your monies worth. The picture can be realistic and more amazing if you do an ISF calibration. Out of the box, colors are a bit off and picture is not quite right. I performed my own ISF calibration and the colors are sweet (white is whiter and black is blacker). I love showing off this tv by popping in HD MOODS Aquarium in the PS3. If you can't spend the money for a professional calibration (stay away from Geek Squad), please pick up a calibration disc. You will be stunned and amazed of the picture quality that this set can really do. Only bad side I can really think of is the sound quality. I tweaked the audio settings and the sound is still not right for me. Maybe is just me. Hope this helps

5.0 out of 5 stars Best HDTV Around for the Money, December 6, 2009
This review is from: Mitsubishi WD-73735 73-Inch 1080p DLP HDTV (Electronics)
I have had this TV for almost a year. It's performance has been nothing short of stellar. Yes the sound quality is not that great but if you use a alternative sound source such as an audio receiver this is a non-issue.

The picture quality really shines when viewing HD football broadcasts and other sporting events. Blue-Ray/HD movies are spectactular. Video games from the Wii to the PS3 look great. I have my PC connected via HDMI which has breathed new life in to old and new PC games alike. There is a PC mode built into the TV that makes it act like a standard computer monitor (pretty cool :-).

But keep in mind this is an HDTV with emphases on the HD part. SD (Standard Definition) TV pictures may appear sub-par. This is because you have 73 inches (huge picture) which will magnify the pixels of SD TV which is only 480i/480p (720p, 1080i or 1080p for HD) for most satelite and cable feeds. SD viewing may have noticable blocks imbeded in you picture (usually refered to as pixelation). This is not noticable on smaller TVs due to the smaller screen size. If you have HD satelite, HD cable TV, or get HDTV via an "over the air antenna", this is a must have TV, especially for the price.

You notice I didn't mention Standard DVDs above. These look fine for the most part because of todays DVD players will up-covert Standard DVDs to where they look fine on TVs of this size. It depends upon the quality of the DVD itself.

If you plan on watching this TV in SD mode you may want to go somewhere that has this TV or one similiar to judge the SD picture quality for yourself. You will want to try the SD picture in both coaxle cable mode and S-Video mode. Alot of the SD (non-HD) satelite and cable boxes have both of these outputs. You should notice an improvement with S-Video feed over coaxle feed. Since most TV programming is either available in HD or heading that direction, this is becoming less of an issue.

I have been extremely satisfied with my TV and definitely recommend it for any type of HD viewing and/or video game playing.

When it comes to entertainment, it is hard to wantch a great movie that you enjoyed seeing in the cinema that was larger than life on a small screen tv set. This 73 inch set can easily convert what you are watching from regular viewing to "3D" if you desire. Why go to the movies or a ball game when this screen gives you a window to the world of sports and entertainment, making you feel like you are there. Experience the beauty of nature without the discomfort of the enviroment or the danger of a shark attack.
