Go big or stay at home...,

Actually purchased this set from [...] on a promo including the matching 73" stand from Mits. I'm honestly surprised Costco sells any DLP sets considering how dark their picture setup was on the sales floor. I bought it 2 months ago based on the confidence taken from prior buyers experience, my own experience w/ a 2004 Samsung 61" DLP, and lastly, the review of a similar model 65" Mits in the Sept 2009 issue of Home Theater Mag.
When I got it setup and began trying to adjust the picture settings to my liking, I couldn't seem to find the right combination to suit me. Fortunately, Home Theater Mag's article gave the precise user settings they employed during their testing. I tried them and, voila, excellent picture. I actually feel the picture exceeds my prior Samsung's quality, and I always raved about it. If you are happy with a 50" or smaller picture, consider all formats. But if you are drawn to a true movie experience combining picture excellence with low cost, look no further. These new Mits DLP units really perform. The web site below will show you the settings HT Mag used for their testing: http://hometheatermag.com/rearprojectiontvs/mitsubishi_wd-73837_dlp_rear-projection_hdtv/index5.html

Great TV, C9 and 737 are the same thing!,

I got the 73" C9 3 days ago. Blu rays, xbox 360, and HD DVR are all AWESOME on it. There are tons of tweaks to picture, color, etc.
The C9 has the same 2 settings that the 737 supposedly had exclusive (deepfield imager and sharp edge) from the C9 series. The C9 appears to be the exact same TV as the 737 but with different marketing (big box stores, discount model etc). It is a huge and beautiful screen right out of the box, my wife made me tone it down a bit. I love big bright colors and she doesn't. So I changed a few settings here and there and got a happy medium for both of us. But when I play xbox 360 I crank that baby back up to brilliant on the game mode and it looks very very nice!

Don't be fooled into buying Mitsubishi's more expensive 73" model. Check out the specs. Download the manual. This is the same TV/monitor that goes for twice the price. You will find this mentioned in one or two other reviews.
Amazon delivered the unit on time (as usual... Thank you Amazon!), and the guys set it exactly where I wanted it, plugged it in and tested it. Who could as for more in a free delivery? This monster sits at the end of my king size bed. Excessive? I don't watch television, but I review videos and films, so I require a good monitor. Know one thing. Any other set this size that is not rear-projection DLP, will cost thousands of dollars more. In my opinion, this set rivals anything else available for contrast, sharpness, brightness and color reproduction. However, a caveat: If you have excellent eyesight, which I am blessed to have, you will notice the screen "crawl"... microscopic movement caused by the tiny processing mirrors. I have never viewed a DLP screen that did not exhibit this characteristic. If that is going to bother you, I believe an equivalent sized LED screen goes for about $15,000. Or was it $150,000? Now, for the good stuff. The TV sets itself up, pretty much. Just follow simple on-screen instructions. It has a side input, three HDMI back inputs, 3D ready, with various other types of component inputs. It's energy efficient. Couple this monitor to a Blu-ray disc player and a sound system, then sit back and enjoy. The video reproduction is astounding, colors warm, blacks reproduced deeply black. I have noticed that some reviewers mention their disappointment with the sound that this unit produces through its own speakers. I don't know what to say to that. I haven't tried the speakers in this unit, because I knew when I bought it I would be running it through my audio-video receiver. I would have thought, and obviously the manufacturer agrees, that anyone who purchases this unit would be connecting it to a home-theater system, so why waste $$$ on a great built-in sound system? I suppose I can conceive of a situation where someone might buy this unit to use as a TV for older people, giving them a big clear picture for their weakening eyes. In that situation, of course the sound quality and volume of the base unit would be inadequate for their weakening ears. Also, this probably wouldn't be an adequate TV, on its own, for a sports bar. If you want a 73" TV for under $1400, this is the only show in town.

When I ordered this from Amazon, I was a bit nervous about ordering something this large from an e-tailer and having it shipped across the country. I had visions of it arriving all mangled & having to ship it back at my expense. I ordered this one day after Thanksgiving, and I was given an estimated delivery date after Christmas. However, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a message about a week later that the TV had been shipped. The product was delivered less than a week later, and it arrived in good condition. So overall, I'd rate the whole buying experience as very good. The box was enormous, so you definitely need two people to move it into your house. Also, it doesn't come with an HDMI cable, so make sure you have one on hand.
I'd rate the picture quality of the TV as "good." The screen surface is not perfectly flat, perhaps due to its large size: both upper corners of the screen are slightly bowed inwards (diagonally), and this creates noticeable problems with the screen geometry when viewing letter-boxed films. The picture gets "bent" at both upper corners due to this screen bowing (as in, not a straight line all the way across the width of the picture). However, when viewing material that fills the whole screen, this problem is not noticeable. The default color quality is good, if just a bit over-saturated (I have yet to fiddle with all the adjustments). I've watched a few football games on this TV, but unlike what another reviewer said about "blurred picture in action scenes", I have not noticed any such blurring. Lastly, I've noticed some uneven backlighting, in that the upper edge of the screen is slightly darker than the rest of the screen, especially at the corners. The remote control has all the requisite buttons and functionality, but I think Mitsubishi needs to pay a little more attention to designing for senior citizens' less than perfect vision and less agile hands: the navigation buttons (up, down, left, right) are small, recessed, and unmarked by any kind of "paint" - the arrows are made by shiny black plastic on matte black plastic. I bought this TV for my elderly mother, and she could not see these arrows - heck, it even took me several tries before I noticed them. These nav buttons are also small and recessed, so they are not easy to hit without pushing the wrong button, especially if you have poor vision. Even with the above complaints, though, I'd rate this TV as "good bang for the buck": the 73" screen size does make for an immersive viewing experience, at a price that cannot be matched by current LCD products at similar screen sizes. The built-in speakers are not that good, however, so you'll need a good quality surround-sound system if you really want a good home theater experience.

Bring Tears to My eyes,

I was so happy with this purchase that it brought tears to my eyes when
I was watching blue ray planet earth with this tv. The only tv better than this would be the 82 inch version. This tv was a christmas gift for my parents and they both were blown away. I don't see a difference between my 73 inch and my Samsung plasma in terms of clarity and color contrasts. I would highly recommend this purchase for anyone looking for a home entertainment system. UPDATE: 12/11/2009 I added Terk HDtv Antenna Amplified by Terk to my 73 c9 and believe me all the local channels ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS..etc were blue ray quality. I could not believe I'm watching these channels at this quality for free. The ONLY regret I made about this purchase was not buying it sooner.

73C9 DELIVERS - One of my better purchases.,

Awesome screen size, provides movie theater experience in my living room. I can't rave about this purchase enough, everything about this TV is a pro, except for the clunky remote. I was going for a big plasma, until I came across this DLP, I bought it with stand and it is just jaw dropping. Don't dismiss this TV just because you can't hang it on the wall. 73" screen weighs about 93 lbs and easily handled by two adults. Took longer to take it out of the packaging than to set it up. We were watching HDTV in about 15 minutes.

I did a lot of homework before making this purchase and am very happy with my choice. I purchased this tv for $1698 thru Amazon from the Home Theatre Store. They upgraded me to the WD-73737 at no additional charge which was a pleasant surprise. I picked it up at the shipping terminal and it was expertly packaged and in perfect condition. Set up was as easy as it gets and the picture quality is fantastic. I have mine hooked up to a direct tv hd receiver and the sound running thru a Harmon Kardon receiver with 4 Infinity ceiling speakers and a velodyne sub. Mitsubishi has been around forever and DLP is what the movie theatres use. Blu-ray movies will blow you away! This is a lot of tv for the money. It sits on a Bush Verona model stand that for $238 was far less than the matching Mitsubishi stand and it looks great. Like everyone else says...the remote is not that great, but I use the Direct tv remote so it's no big deal. I was so impressed by this tv that I bought the Mitsubishi WD-60737 for my office.

Well let put it like this, it looks better than my old sony 60" I've had in the past. I am amazed at all the picture tuning you can do for a beast like this.Add the fact that it is 3D ready just waiting for the adapter to come out for it. When I play fight night round 4 it feels like I'm watching it on tv instead of playing the game. Also I suggest you get the matching stand to with it. All tho I didn't buy mines from Amazon, bought it from Costco I came out on top I paid 1299 for tv and stand there is no way in hell you gonna find a deal like that, but really if you are into big screeners for your basement i really recommend you get one of these or the 82"er trust me if I had a few more thousands in my pocket i would jump for the 82"er. my only down side to this tv is the remote, its quite boring but my onkyo remote takes care of all that and there is no USB slot but not an big issue. To really appreciate the picture quality i suggest you sit down and play with the picture set up. You won't be disappointed with this tv too bad I can't hang this on a wall lmao, I normally don't post reviews because everybody else does a good job of telling it you......
