5.0 out of 5 stars Hey, who knew the embalmer had a story to tell?, February 25, 2007
This review is from: Mitsukazu Mihara: The Embalmer Volume 1 (v. 1) (Paperback)
This Manga (Comic) is a lot like Tarot Cafe, in the aspect it tells the stories of each body the embalmer embalms... The stories are rather sad, so, if you get emotional easily, and don't enjoy that, then you probably shouldn't read it... If you thrive on the drama of life and death, then you ought to like this Manga.
I personally don't support embalming, but the Manga is good...

The other reviewers provide a good summary of the plot and assessment of the manga's quality, but I wanted to add a comment about the art: The rendering of figure (especially hands and feet) is quite awkward frequently, and the characters are - let's say - strange in appearance. If you are a reader of much mainstream and high quality manga, expect to be jarred by the awkwardness of the art. The story and characterization more than made it up for me, and I will continue to read, but I am still bothered by the art.

It's style of rendering figure is very similar to Doll if you've read that.

2.0 out of 5 stars The shojo embalmer ., December 3, 2007
This review is from: Mitsukazu Mihara: The Embalmer Volume 1 (v. 1) (Paperback)
A manga about an embalmer and his corpses . shiniyurou mamiya is a japanese embalmer who likes to get laid after doing his work , because it makes him feel cold . tha story follows his short romantic exploits , the lives of the dead people he embalms and his neighbor's crush on him .

I thought mitsukaza mihara was going to give us an in depth details about embalming , but we only get a little information about it . it's more of a romance and drama manga than a horror . But it figures , it's a shojo manga with good art and nice fashion .
The lead character is not that interesting , but the stories of the deceased are .The best chapter is chapter 4 a love without embrace .

An anime news site said the manga is bieng adabted as a live action tv series .
