Book Description

Mitsukazu Mihara the Embalmer April 3, 2007
Mitsukazu Mihara's unsettling look at the fine line that separates life from death continues... In this volume, we journey to the past, where we learn how Shinjyurou began his unusual profession. As the son of an embalmer who was so immersed in work over family life, Shinjyurou had every reason to hate his father's job. But a tragic string of traumatic events gives Shinjyurou a heartbreaking, unforgettable look at the man who must deal with loss all the days of his life. "The Embalmer is a great starting point if you like reading books about the great beyond, because it stays firmly grounded in the land of the living. If you've ever lost someone close to you, this book will really tug at your heartstrings, but it also might become a treasured part of your bookshelf." ign.com

This review is from: Mitsukazu Mihara: The Embalmer Volume 3 (v. 3) (Paperback)
I got into this series because I was going to school for my funeral directors / embalmers license, and the title drew me in. In the first 2 books the story revolves around a japanese trade embalmer who sells his services to local funeral homes in the area of his converted church. Shinjyurou, the main character is a womanizer, a slob, and mostly just distracted. In this the third installment we find the history behind his traits, and how he learned his trade. This book is the best so far in my opinion because it answers all the questions brought up in the first 2 books. This story is told in that hollywood style where they drop you into the story in progress, then fill in the blanks as it evolves. In reality book 3 is the first part of the story, or Shin's origins. All things considered this is the best of the 3 books I've read so far, and I'm looking forward to the next.
