I was looking for an all-metric ruler about this size with metric scales on both top and bottom.
This ruler looked pretty close to what I wanted so I decided to order it
(once it finally came back in stock).

The ruler that arrived is a nice thick and sturdy ruler with a good feel to it.
It arrived in a nice vinyl storage sleeve (although it was covered in an ugly
white label). The finish is not quite "black" but rather a dull-metallic gray.
The graduations are engraved and embossed with visible white paint, making them
easy to read against the dark finish.

The dimensions are not quite as indicated; a bit wider than 19mm and thinner than 3/64"
Actual dimensions: 150.1mm x 20.2mm x 0.035"(0.9mm) thick.

The ruler is somewhat magnetic (most stainless steel is not magnetic) so I am not sure what the content is
but it seems like good quality tempered steel. The ruler itself is made in USA and is quite sturdy.

I immediately noticed that it picks up fingerprints quite easily although it looked better after oiling it up.
(I was worried about the white paint washing off if I cleaned with oil or alcohol but that did not seem to be a problem.)

The scales printed on the front and back are identical.
I would have preferred that the front and back have different scale configuration
(one side with the 1mm graduations on the *bottom* and 0.5mm on the top) and/or
with the scale zero starting from the *right* instead of left on one side.

Also, this bothers me just a bit, the ruler was just a bit longer than 150mm...
and the scale on the back side seemed to be slightly offset to the right
(maybe 0.1mm) so that the length from the left end read just a bit less than actual length.

This are very high quality rulers, I love using it. The sharp edges make for exact measurements, and the they're thick enough to no bend like most 150mm/6inch scales.

Everything I do at work is in metric, so it's nice not to have 'inch lines' messing up my view.

If you need a metric ruler in your botanic photographs this ruler is perfect. The black finish shows up perfectly, and the scale down to 0.5mm allows you to scale very small details. Very useful if you are using photo references for botanical illustration.

It is astonishing! It is the first quarter of the21st century. The media is brimming with references to how important it is to promote that pitiful acronym STEM- Science Technology Engineering Math, our current president is out promoting a trade deal with circum-Pacific economic entities, and I have to get excited because I bought a really, really nice SI units ruler. No matter where I look, especially in hardware stores, or computer parts stores, or straight electronics stores, it is a rare find to see a measuring scale, or ruler, or tape measure that is mixed "metric"/English (Imperial) unit. Finding an all-metric ruler would be nothing less than a miracle. Perevious efforts to purchase a 25mm X 1mm X nnn-mm took me to web sites in Germany, where I was advised that the import fee would elevate the price of the ruler as to make it prohibitively expensive.

The United States of America was supposed to have converted to SI units by 1980. There was huge opposition amongst the public, and amongst political groups, and amongst an anti-government point-of-view that declared that market forces would eventually result in a natural non-enforced conversion. That has not happened. The main reason is that the populace of the United States could not understand the necessity.

This scale is the result of three purchases of all millimeter metal scales. It is sad that I am moved to celebrate something I could have bought in a good hardware or tool-store in Japan.

Mean time, we need to keep our children and workers to stay interested in STEM, and keep on promoting the increase of the "American" manufacturing economy. Gee we can bring back manufacturing, but it might be a good idea to manufacture products that are built to physical units used by the rest of the Pacific rim economies.

Great ruler by the way...

Excellent definition and precision. A bit thin to grab but it's OK.
Perfect when mm or 1/2mm accuracy is needed.
Highly recommended.
