3.0 out of 5 stars Admirable and interesting attempt to teach chemistry, December 12, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Mix It Up!: The Science of Chemistry (The Learning Activity Books, 2) (Paperback)
Mixing it Up! The Science of Chemistry is an admirable and interesting attempt to teach basic chemistry to young children. Topics covered include atoms, molecules, compounds, material properties, and chemical changes. The book is organized and presented as a workbook primarily filled with explanatory text, black-and-white illustrations, and worksheets. Crossword puzzles, fill-in-the-blank questions, and hidden-word puzzles are used liberally to reinforce the science concepts. Only three experiments are included and the book cannot be re-used by another student. However, the book makes a nice classroom addition for young children who may want to progress beyond the current classroom science program. Suggested for ages 7-9. From The Science Spiders newsletter, November 1999.
