5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book
Marie Cadant is a widow who discovers that her little boy was switched with another at birth. She tracks down wealthy Peter Hallock - a widower who has her bioligical son and is the father of the boy she has been raising as her own. They marry for convenience because they each love both boys and feel it best for the boys. This is a terrific book! I really loved it...

3.0 out of 5 stars Good Christian romance, but lacked depth.
Mixed Blessings by Cathy Marie Hake was a good Christian romance. It is a parents worse nightmare, you discover the child you have loved for years isn't yours - now what. You have a child of the heart and not of the flesh. The author takes us on a journey of blending two families, however, It was a short journey. This could have been a fantastic novel, but fell short,...

Not too sad, but has some humor and good times in the story line. A "keeper" that I will read again in the future.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Mixed Blessings" by Cathy Marie Hake, July 30, 2008
This review is from: Mixed Blessings (Love Inspired #262) (Mass Market Paperback)
I LOVE THIS BOOK! This is a beautiful story! There is so much emotion and feeling in this story that I could hardly put it down! I love the way Hakes writes about the charaters thoughts, feelings, and prayers. As a mother myself, all I could think about while reading this book was,"Oh my goodness, how would I feel if I found out that, after 3 years, I had nursed, raised, and loved a child that was not my biological son?" That would be so scary because I would want my biological son but, I would not want to give up the son I had raised for 3 years. That's why this book is so beautiful! It is romantic too! You will not be disappointed with this book! If you are a mother(or father) it will tear at your emotions the whole time, make you feel romantic, make you laugh, and show that love truly is the greatest gift. God bless you!

4.0 out of 5 stars Too short but a keeper, September 4, 2006

My only complaint about this and other Love Inspired books is that they are too short. I would like to have spent more time with Peter and Marie and their sons, Ricky and Luke. Peter and Marie took what was a real tragedy and turned it into something beautiful that enhanced their lives and the lives of their sons.

I think Ms. Hake showed real insight when she showed how Marie wanted to have a relationship with Luke, who was her biological son but at the same time at first was threatened by Peter's desire to have a relationship with Ricky, who was his biological son. For the sake of her son she was able to overcome this jealousy but the acknowledgement that she experienced it, even briefly, added to the credibility of this story.

This book did not delve as much as I would have hoped into the dynamics of "blended" families and was not "deep" reading but I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it and that is why I read...for enjoyment. Guess that's why I don't give two hoots in Hades for what the "experts" say in their reviews and why I don't care what Oprah recommends or what makes the Bestseller list.

I am hoping there is a story about Sandy in the near future and that her book also gives me another glimpse of Luke and Ricky! This book is a keeper!
