1.0 out of 5 stars Beginner's level erotic mind games for undemanding tastes., April 17, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Mixed Doubles (Black Lace) (Mass Market Paperback)
The first of Black Lace's modern-era books I have read, this is a poor sample of erotica. What should be sensual and provocative lust-games lack conviction and depth. The dialogue and characters are predictable and shallow; little was done to improve upon the weak plot premise. I think the author may have whipped this one out to meet a deadline. Less demanding readers may still enjoy it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Simply horrible., November 24, 2001

This review is from: Mixed Doubles (Black Lace) (Mass Market Paperback)
I like erotica, in particular Black Lace series erotica, but this one is simply awful. Natalie, the alleged heroine, is not one bit likeable. She’s one of those yuppie types who will stab anybody in the back to get to the next rung of the success ladder. She’s also a disgusting (...). Amongst her escapades are performing (a sex act) on her boyfriend in a place she knows the man she is trying to make jealous will be sure to see her; allowing her boyfriend to put his hand up her dress in the stands at Wimbledon in a way that the tennis players will be sure to it. The “hero” of the book is even worse. His idea of great sex is to humiliate the woman by forcing her to have sex in public, or with other partners—male or female—of his choosing. On top of that, he is a disgustingly obnoxious, male chauvinist jerk. There was nothing attractive about this creep, including his bald head. The only saving grace was that the heroine deserved him.

Erotica is supposed to be exciting and inspiring…maybe even graphic. It’s not supposed to be about people who are so repulsive that the whole book is gross and disgusting.

If you want a good Black Lace novel, try Dreamers in Time, Gold Fever, or Nicole’s Revenge

1.0 out of 5 stars All around terrible, August 5, 2005
This review is from: Mixed Doubles (Black Lace) (Mass Market Paperback)
This book was unbelievably bad! No real story, the characters were unlikalbe. This book wasn't romantic at all (or sexy). This is the first type of this book I've ever bought, and I regret spending the money....
