5.0 out of 5 stars Tall Paul Does it again, January 27, 2003

Some people bash this album, and every other Mixed Live album, because it does not capture the true experience of actually being there. I say that this and Tall Paul's other Mixed Live album come very close. In my opinion, the album starts out allright with the exception of Richard F.'s Down and Dirty(which pumps me up). But once Shiny Disco Balls ends, the bassline drops and a whole new beast forms. Begining with Twister's Revolution, the set gets down and fast revealing a very trancey side. The only change in my humble opinon would be to move Down and Dirty to later in the set. But all in all this album is great and the second best of the Mixed Live series, only trailing Tall Pauls first effort in the Mixed Live series. But then again, this is my humble opinion.

5.0 out of 5 stars An essential album in my collection by far!, February 18, 2003

Let me start with this...I was blessed with having one of the greatest clubs in usa just an hour away BUZZ....at this venue many of world class djs filled the slots every friday. One of those djs happened to be Tall Paul. This guy completely rocks live and can get the crowd into the groove with his sets. well on with the cd........AMAZING!!! Although i have all the kind words about Paul this was the first cd i actually went and bought of his and boy am i glad i did. I dont see why people knock on the sound of the crowd being too much on this cd. In no way is it to much to me, i think it is a perfect balance. Afterall, why buy the "mixed live" album if you dont want to hear a crowd? Tracks 1-4 are great as it picks up the pace, track 5 i thought was cheesy at first but am now growing to like it alot...track 9 is one of my favorite songs now "why?" by PIMP. Listening to the sound of peeps chanting "tall paul" to the beat halfway through the track puts you there on the floor.I could go on and on with the list of why i love this mix but i wont. Oh yeah I cant forget to mention that the bonus dvd disc sounds amazing on a surround sound system, the quality is stunning. Do yourself a favor and go buy this cd you shouldn't be disappointed.

I'm having to order a new copy as it went bye, bye when my portable CD player got stolen. All I have now is the DVD 5.1 Surround.

It's one CD I do listen to alot and enjoy listening to both the regular CD and the DVD version. Even though I don't have 5.1 surround at home, it has a richer mix than the standard CD and in the process, you get more of the crowd coming through which is cool. Also, I hear an air horn once or twice, which I never noticed on the standard CD.

Tall Paul is excellent as a DJ and listening to him live gives you that sense of being there. What I like about this CD is the fact that the bass is not just the mixed bass from the mixing board, but the ambient bass from the speakers in the house as well.

I first became familiar with him in the CD "That Club Mix" where he does a cool, progressive rendition of "Precious Heart" and that lead to seeing what else he has done.

I do highly recommend it for lovers of the Techno/trance/electronica et-al genra of music.

The opening track is great and each track after that is just as good. There are no bad mixes on the entire CD.

Being that the DVD disk is a bonus disk makes this a great bargain as well. Pick it up!

4.0 out of 5 stars Feel the crowd!, August 5, 2003
By A Customer
This review is from: Mixed Live: 2nd Session Clubspace Miami (with Bonus DVD in 5.1 Surround Sound) (Audio CD)
Very few DJ's take the approach of including the crowd's reactions in a live recording, Tall Paul has done it in an amazing way, it makes you part of the moment. The selection of tracks is a fresh blend of club music, perfect beats to start your engines on a weekend night. Leave the CD in the car and use the included DVD at home, if you have good sound you'll hear the dolby difference.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good CD, January 29, 2003

All in all the CD is pretty good, one thing that bothered me is that there is too much crowd noise. I like a little of crowd noise everynow and then, but it's too much in this CD.

It's a good CD nevertheless.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Must Have, January 28, 2003

I was a late starter to TP's stuff (first CD being Duty Free 2, which is also an excellent one). I have to say that out of all the DJs that I have come across in the past two years he is definitely the best. This CD, like Duty Free 2, will get you going from first track onwards. The CD takes one through various high and low points (to ensure that heartbeat rate of the crowd remains in the safe level, and no one gets into any trouble).

While this is a live act, one does not really hear too much of the crowd. Personally, I prefer the "limited intrusiuon" of the raucous crowd better, as I am spending my [$$$] + S&H to listen to his tracks rather than some drunk morons in the crowd.

Bottom line is that this CD definitely TP hauls ass, and is a must have!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Pump" is still the best, May 23, 2010

In 1994 during the 100th cent Olympic Games in Atlanta I came across hearing Dj Tall Paul's music at a club. Still today, over ten years later his CD "PUMP is still my favorite: Technocat, Hard to dance, Chaka Boom bang/Tossin and Turning, Do you want me, and Antic are the best. These songs always give me inspiration. Check out Pump. Its old but still my favorite mixed CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Tall Paul did it again, May 31, 2009
This review is from: Mixed Live: 2nd Session Clubspace Miami (with Bonus DVD in 5.1 Surround Sound) (Audio CD)
I got the first Tall Paul Mixed live from moonshine quite a few years ago. Buying the cd was more of an experiment in discovering new globe trotting DJs for myself... I was pleasantly surprised and found Tall Paul to be one of my favorite UK DJ's and the cd's became one of my favorite in my collection. When I recently discovered there was sequel to the first mixed live I placed my order at once.

The cd itself is classic Tall Paul all the way... the tracks are great and the music set itself fits the place where it was recorded...

The only issue though with this CD is the fact that it is live and they put mics in the audience to capture the ambient noise. Some may enjoy the "live crowd feel", I however do not. I feel that it takes away from the sound quality a little bit.

Still gets 5 stars though.... If you like UK flavored house from a fun DJ with good taste I recommend this CD.

4.0 out of 5 stars I was there., September 8, 2006

Maybe most of the whistling you'll hear on this mix was done by me. I've always loved Tall Paul because of his energy, but let me tell you a little secret. The night really wasn't all that great. The club wasn't completely packed that night, and most people left as soon as TP finished his set. The pictures of the crowd you see on the sleeve was mostly the people in the front, and the back was practically empty. Nonetheless, I had a great time that night and whistled real loud because I knew it would end up on the CD. After he finished the set he stepped down the booth and stayed at the bar for a while, so I went up to him, congratulated him and thanked him for a wonderful set.
OK, so it probably wasn't the most amazing night in my life, but it was pretty solid, and I got my whistles onto the cd!

5.0 out of 5 stars i love house music, February 13, 2006
By
This review is from: Mixed Live: 2nd Session Clubspace Miami (with Bonus DVD in 5.1 Surround Sound) (Audio CD)
I picked up this cd because I've been to Club Space in Miami multiple times and have heard how good Tall Paul is. Let's just say that I was blown away and was immediatley hooked on this cd. The beats keep you coming back for more. Each song is progressively better than the previous one, yet every song rocks.
Might I add, there is really nothing better than hearing the live crowd in the background. Whistles, clapping, and the chanting of "Tall Paul" Anyone who likes house music will LOVE this cd.
